I seem to always go in waves with Consumer Reports. I don’t use them for a year, and then I find myself constantly checking out stroller reviews, appliances, used cars for a friend, etc.

See if your local public library will let you access the online edition. I can do this from anywhere for free by using my library card number. Libraries offer all kinds of great digital stuff these days.
Good tip! I checked mine a while back and it didn’t unfortunately, although I think the print version was available in certain branches. I can get other magazines like Car & Driver or Martha Stewart Living.
My experience is that Consumer Reports has ceased to allow libraries to have online access to any of their recent magazine reports (showing only those before 2010). This change happened during 2015. Prior to this change, you could get all recent reports or at least those that were over three months old. Now the online periodical access via the library is pretty much worthless because the reports are just too old to have any relevance.

In my opinion, Consumer Reports Online is a waste. Many of the user comments about their top rated products contradict what the experts have written. Also, the user interface looks like it’s from the 1990’s. I’m sure the team at CR does a through job testing products, but after using the site a handful of times I cancelled my membership.
