Updated July 2020. Do you have small business income or work as an independent contractor? Uber/Lyft, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Airbnb? You are eligible to open a small business credit card, which keeps your personal and business expenses separate. If you are not a corporation or LLC, you can apply as a sole proprietorship, with your name as the business name and your Social Security number as the Tax ID number. I did this for years successfully before incorporating my business.

Small business credit cards are offering strong perks and $500+ value for a single card during the first year to try out a new card. Below are the top 10 credit card offers that I would apply for (or have applied for already). Notable recent changes:

  • Ink Business Preferred bonus, AmEx Business Platinum perks updated.
  • Added US Bank Business Leverage card.

This is a companion post to my Top 10 Best Credit Card Bonus Offers for personal cards. Notice that small business bonuses are on average even higher than those on consumer cards.

Note: Certain Chase cards have a “5/24 rule” which is an unofficial rule that they will automatically deny approval on new credit cards if you have 5 or more new credit cards on your credit report within the past 2 years. This rule applies on a per-person basis, so if you are new, you might want to start with those Chase cards.

  1. could you please throw some light on
    – Travel Insurance provided by Orbitz vs credit card travel insurance vs none vs other ?
    Cost factors ?
Whats covered for international travelers, whats not ?
If a connecting flight is missed, does the insurance cover, etc.

  2. You should warn business owners regarding BUSINESS cards such as the capital one card which reports occasional delinquent payments on one’s PERSONAL credit report – unlike Chase and American Express business cards which do NOT negatively affect one’s personal credit report!

  3. Is Delta Gold 70k miles still available? When clicked on the link, it says 60k bonus miles.

  4. Anyone only if Chase Ink preferred still give 100K paid off you supply in-branch (vs 80K online)?

  5. I’m going to apply a card for my new business, That is what info I am looking for. Also, Gonna share this with my friends!

  6. I’d like you suggest you consider a comparison of “grace period days” aka “interest free days” in your business credit card comparisons. I just learned the hard way that this varies from company to company and card to card. For example – capital one 27 days grace – chase 20 days grace – discover 25 days grace. A week is a material difference when using for business and timing cash flow, etc.

  7. PNC Bank offers 1.5% cash back, and a $200 bonus for spending $3000 in the first three billing cycles.

  8. The information about Wells Fargo Business Platinum Credit Card needs correction: your page says spend “$3,000” in the first 3 months, but the actual Wells Fargo pages says spend “$5,000” in the first 3 months:
