If you have an existing Citi credit card, log into your account at Citi.com and see if you are targeted for 5% back on up to $500 of online purchases ($25 max per card). It appears to be widely available on a variety of Citi-branded consumer and small business credit cards including the popular Citi Double Cash and Citi Costco cards (but not all of them). The offer does not start until 11/24 and ends on 11/30. However, you must enroll to get the bonus, so it is important to activate first.

Here’s what it looks like for my Citi Double Cash card:

If you don’t see it upon login or accidentally click past it, try to look under “Rewards & Benefits” and then “Offers for You”. You can also try this link. The wording suggests that this stacks on top of your normal earnings of cash back, miles, or points, so you could really be getting for example 7% cash back total (2% + 5%). Remember that you can enroll multiple cards as well, but you must activate each one individually.

  1. Very cool! Just enrolled both my Double Cash and my Costco card. (What’ll be interesting, I ordered a new stove from Costco, and it’s arriving the 24th. It was ordered online… will have to see how they code it, and when they actually charge it. Might be the worlds easiest cash back, lol.)

  2. Thanks for the heads up. As you stated, the offer wasn’t presented on the home page, I had to look for it in order to enroll.

  3. Enrolled. Can I just reload my Amazon gift card balance?

  4. Oddly, I don’t see this attached at any of my cards, Double Cash and Costco. Are you going to a section that says “Special Offer” ?

I see Earn More Cash Back on Credit Card Purchases When You Open a Citi Priority Package. Am I missing something?

    • From the main menu, go to rewards & benefits, then ‘Offers for You’. It should be in the list that then shows up.

  5. Thanks for this, Jonathan! Signed up my Doublecash.

Thank you, got there by your link, not offered on my homepage!! Amazon gift cards, here I come!

  7. Can people post updates on how their purchases were coded at various online sites? That way we can collectively learn from communal experience and not repeat mistakes of making purchases from places that aren’t coded as online.

    • Good idea Rob! I ordered last night from Amazon, and it was coded as Online, but I think we all expected that one. I’ll post again if I order from a less obvious online retailer.
