Ok, I give in to the peer pressure. Cap started it, and now everyone’s sharing what’s in their wallet, so here I go… To start, my wallet is a Coach black leather bi-fold, a nice gift from someone with better taste than me.

I have my trifecta of credit cards:

» Citi Dividend Platinum Select MasterCard

» MBNA/Fidelity Investments 529 College Rewards Card

» Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Card

Then there’s my ATM cards:

» Bank of America ATM card

» Bank of America Business Checking ATM Card

…and the usual:

» Driver’s License

» State Farm Car Insurance Card

» Health Insurance Card

» Library Card

» Student ID Card

…and the not-as-usual:

» 2 Target Gift Cards, with $50 and $27.34 left (I always write the remaining value on it)

» Costco Business Membership Card

» Single unused check (never know when you’ll need one)

» Completed Subway sandwiches frequent-eater card. (I just threw away all my un-completed ones.)

» $53 in cash

Wow, that’s a lot of stuff, and I just cleaned my wallet out last month. They have to start making all these cards out of something thinner.

  1. In regards to the completed subway card — they’re phasing these out, so you better utilize it while they’re still accpeting them. Last time I was there (~2 months ago) they are treating them as coupons, with each individual stamp being worth something like 50 cents.

  2. 50 cents for a coupon would actuallyl be better than the current deal for a completed card. It’s pretty bad, you have to buy chips and drink at full price, and then you get a 6″ sandwich for free. For some sandwich combos that’s barely saving a buck :/

  3. Isn’t it dangerous to keep a blank check in your wallet? What if it was stolen?

  4. It isn’t dangerous as long as he hasn’t signed it yet. I believe, from my negotiable instruments class, that the bank that cashes it is liable if the signature is a forgery.

  5. Not sure, but if you note the check number, you can just call the bank and do a stop payment on the check.

  6. it shouldn’t be too hard to forge since they can practice from your signatures on your credit cards and drivers license

  7. Not to mention that your routing and account numbers are on the check and they can simply link bank accounts, order new checks (all you need is the Drivers License number to order at some places), or do something else equally as devious…

  8. Personally i don’t sign my the back of any of my credit cards. I write SEE PHOTO ID, but as for the check being stolen and link bank accounts or order new checks, you can put the checking account on hold
