Walmart is running its own “Amazon Prime Day” competitor starting July 10th, called “Walmart+ Week”. New Walmart+ members can now get 50% off an annual Walmart+ membership (a $49 savings). Look for Walmart+ deals coming soon.

*Pay $49 for the first year of an annual membership. Not available to InHome members or current, paid annual members or members with a current plan through a third party offer other than those offers through YouTube, GamePass, and Panera. Offer expires 7/13/2023.

Walmart+ membership gets you the following perks:

  • Free Paramount+ Essential streaming subscription. Regular price is $5.99 per month.
  • Free same-day delivery of cold Groceries & more from your local Walmart ($35 minimum purchase). No markup from in-store prices! Where available.
  • Free next-day and 2-day shipping from Walmart.com (no minimum purchase). Excludes most Marketplace items, location & freight surcharges.
  • Scan & Go in-store. Use the Walmart app to scan barcodes as you shop in-store and skip the cashier line.
  • Save 10 cents per gallon on fuel at 14,000+ locations nationwide including Exxon, Mobil, Walmart & Murphy stations. You also get member prices at Sam’s Club fuel centers.

That same-day grocery delivery with no markup sounds great, much better value than Instacart.

We have been using Walmart+ for most of our grocery deliveries since the start of the pandemic. Ignore all of those negative perceptions about shopping at Walmart, or just let them shop for you and have it delivered. It’s a huge timesaver and the only additional cost is the driver tip which is not too bad. We have found the service far superior to all of our local grocers and their produce prices are half of what our local grocers charge. Plus the quality is higher. Also, for now, they are better than Amazon when it comes to non-perishable items. Not only do you get free delivery with no minimum order, but often it comes the same day you order. Definitely give it a whirl. We love it.

    • I actually enjoy shopping via app vs. crowded store and have used Whole Foods delivery service, but not so much after the $10 surcharge was added. I still feel I need to add the same driver tip, which now makes the extra total cost close to $20 for a $100 order. Whole Foods doesn’t mark up prices either, but many weekly deals are now “in-store only”.

I really wonder how Walmart can make money offering free door-to-door delivery on a $35 order at their prices!

I am absolutely positive that it is a loss leader. As a matter of fact, I heard from someone who I trust, Walmart grocery pricing is a loss leader in totality, as their lower prices are a draw to get people into the stores to purchase their higher margin products, such as their clothes.

It’s really ridiculous. The other day, I needed a replacement battery for my car key fob. I ordered it in the morning around 9am. It was delivered by a person in a car (probably performing grocery deliveries nearby) five hours after I ordered it. The total, was $1.75. There is no option to tip as this is a regular shipped order (think like Amazon Prime). My wife will order a can of soup sometimes. I tell her we need to stop doing this as it will surely bankrupt an excellent service.

Quite frankly, we find their bakery, dry goods, dairy and store brand quite excellent as well as their produce. Their meats and seafoods outside of ribs and brisket (which are pretty much the same wherever you go) leave a lot to be desired and don’t price that terribly well anyway.

We still have to run into Whole Foods periodically for things Walmart doesn’t carry, but faint at the prices every time.

And Jon… enjoy all of the referral bonuses. I’ve been doing nearly all of the bank and brokerage offers as I sold my investment property and need to park 800K until their is blood in the streets of the equity markets. I got completely out in October and am only 30% of the way back in. I will be retiring early, like you, when the market bounces back and put nearly my entire net worth back in near the bottom of a once in a lifetime correction.

Thanks for all of the offers. You’ve literally made me probably six figures over the years, just with the credit card bonuses alone. 😛

  2. I don’t post often enough, Jonathan, but I always use your referral codes when they’re available for stuff. So you probably know I’m out here.

I do at least half the deals and sign-ups you throw out here, and appreciate the articles (even the one where you showed your investment losses)!

Nabbed this one and a few of the recent bank deals too.

  3. Just got it – thanks for the link! In our area, membership also gets you access to Sam’s Club gas, which is like $0.30 cheaper than regular gas. Now I don’t have to renew my Sam’s Club membership and I don’t have to pay for paramount anymore – score!!
