I can’t stop the stock market from tumbling any further, but here’s a quick roundup of promotions by companies willing to pay you to try out their services. None of these listed require even a credit check. Additional information can be found through the links provided.

  • LendingClub $25 Bonus. Just sign up as a peer-to-peer lender and you’ll get $25 in your account, just link your bank account. If you deposit $1,000 you’ll get $50. More details here.
  • RevolutionMoneyExchange $25 Bonus. Also no initial deposit required to try this money-transfer service. More details here.
  • TextPayMe $5 Bonus. No deposit required. You can pay people via text message with this service. More details here.
  • eBates $10 Bonus. eBates offers rebates on online store purchases. After your first purchase of any amount, you’ll get a $10 bonus. Or you can simply sign-up for a free trial of Netflix through eBates and get another $18. Just remember to cancel in time. More details here.
  • Prosper $25 Bonus. Also a peer-to-peer lender. You’ll need to make a loan of $50 to receive your $25. More details here.
  • Capital One 360 $25 Bonus. One of the earliest online-only savings accounts, Capital One 360 will pay you $25 immediately if your initial deposit is at least $250.

I have gotten all of the bonuses above successfully except for the Prosper one, as I had signed up before the promotion started. I have also gotten several $100 bonuses from these credit cards, although applying will require a credit check.

  1. I am a big fan of revolution money exchange.

It’s so nice to be able to pay back friends without having fees or needing to resort to such draconian measures as paper.

  2. On the LendingClub one, is it $50 in addition to the $25 (for a total of $75) or $50 total?

  3. Thanks,

I just signed up for the ING Direct Bonus. Seems to be a very simple process, and I have an immediate balance of $25. That’s some good free money.

I’m very new to direct banks but it’s hard to resist the rates. I also opened a savings account at iGobanking yesterday. They currently have the highest yields off all direct banks on savings according to BankRate. I’ve seen here and elsewhere complaints about them, but for me the application process and linking of accounts was all completed in minutes. Still waiting for them to mail my PIN. It seems some people do not like the wait but as my money is currently in BoA savings account earning a pittance anything is an improvement to me. YMMV

  4. Wow, is Citi desperate for cash or what??? I got an offer for 40,000 Thank You points (convertible into 2 airline tickets of up to $400 in value if converted in the first 6 months the points are received) if I deposit $25,000 (interest rate of 3.25%) in savings and $1000 in checking. There are strings attached, but I’ve never seen an offer for such large amounts. Supposedly the offer is only good to those who get mailed. But my “invitation #” is 12345789… really unique huh? Is this a reflection of the credit and cash crunch hitting the banks?

  5. If I sign up for the accounts at Revolution Money and LendingClub to get the bonuses, will I be able to turn around and transfer that money back into my savings account (or checking then savings if I have to) and then close the accounts? Or is there a penalty for that that I didn’t understand in all the fine print…

  6. I have noticed a lot of small business owners asking me to look more into some of these offers. The Peer to Peer lending sites offer a great opportunity and gaining a little extra cash is a nice deal. Another great deal I found was getting a deal with Scott Credit Union for $50 and 6.05% extreme checking. Does anyone know why credit union can offer these great rates?

  7. Well, I finally pulled the trigger yesterday and signed up for this, since the bonuses on small savings/checking accounts and credit cards is drying up. I was hesitant to begin with, not being very comfortable providing all that information to such a new place – but after reading here and other finance related sites about their backing, I decided to do it.

Almost backed out at the last minute because I had problems first with their captcha (which seems to be almost unreadable at times!) and then got a message that they were having ‘website issues’ and I should call a phone number. No thanks – if I can’t do it online for an online only company, forget it! So I went back later and the signup was painless. Got my authorization email, activated my account, accepted my $25 free money, set up my bank account – and now I am waiting on the test deposits. With any luck I will be all done by the end of the week.

Given the issues they seem to have with their website crashing, I am not sure that I will trust them very far with payments. I will see if I have any problems the first couple of times I use them, if I can find a place that actually accepts payment through them.

  8. Agh. Guess it would have been helpful if I had specified that I was talking about Revolution MoneyExchange in the above post – sorry about that.

Anyway, got my test deposits, verified them with no problem, and my account is now good to go. I have sent them a message asking about how they report out the signup/referral bonuses, whether as interest income or something else. Didn’t see anything in the faq about it. Does anyone else know?

  9. Is this $25 offer for lending club still going on? Or has it ended? I read about lending club through the washington times (i think or maybe it was new york?) and i have been thinking about joining for a while now so maybe this might be just the kickstart i need!

  10. Did not receive the $25 promotion on this. Disappointed.
