Right now you can get $10 off your next Amazon.com order when you sign up for a free 1-month trial of Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime gives you free 2-day shipping on any purchase with no minimum order, so you don’t even need to get to $25 for the usual Super Saver Shipping. For example, you could order something priced at $12 for only $2 with free 2-day shipping. Via SD.

Promotional offer valid until July 28, 2008. Customer must sign up for a new Amazon Prime Free Trial by July 28th, 2008 and redeem promotional credit before August 28, 2008.

This offer is for accounts who have never signed up for Amazon Prime, trial or not. So if you are already logged in under another account on your computer, you may not see this offer. You will need to logout and either login into a different valid account or open up a new account. The cool part about Amazon Prime trials is that you can set it not to auto-renew ahead of time, so you don’t have to remember to cancel. Here’s how:

  1. Click on Your Account.
  2. If you’re not there yet, scroll down and click on Subscriptions Management > Manage Your Amazon Prime Membership.
  3. Look for green text. Click on the Do Not Upgrade button and you won’t automatically be charged $79 anymore. You’ll still get the entire 1st month of free Amazon Prime shipping.

  1. Thanks for the heads up Jonathan! I usually don’t opt for free trials that you need to remember to cancel, but if I can sign up and “cancel” simultaneously…that seems great.

  2. Thanks! I took advantage of the offer and combined it with a gift certificate I earned through visa card points. Awesome!

  3. Thanks! This was a really good offer.

  4. I really enjoy Prime. If you are a deal catcher and get small items from Amazon, it really works out. I used it pretty extensively for tools two years ago when they had a big clearance over the course of a couple of months.

When you need a gift, and they have the lowest price, it a good deal without having to spend $25 to get free shipping.

Over the counter pills are usually cheaper too, brands being cheaper than Costco, generics not so.

Free shipping + no sales tax makes me happy!

  5. You always tells us about the best offers. Thanks!

  6. Watch out Alaskans and others who are sometimes treated as not part of the US when it comes to shipping (if only our exchange rate on the dollar was better!): I did a trial upgrade to amazon prime, and every time I ordered anything I’d get the message that amazon prime doesn’t apply to Alaska. Even if my order was over $25 I couldn’t get back to the free shipping for over $25. I had to call a few times and get the amazon prime trial cancelled so I could go back to ordering things over $25.

Perhaps this is fixed this time, but I’m not going to try it until someone else tells me it is!

  7. I signed up for amazon prime and I ordered. I ordered two items that I have been wanting to buy for $20. But I am not able to get the $10 off. It doesn’t say anything about it. Is there a promotional code or coupon code that I need to enter ? Any help will be much appreciated.

  8. I really enjoyed Prime. Unfortunately I don’t qualify anymore since I signed up a few years back when Prime first started.

  9. This was a really good tip. I ended up ordering a surge protector for free. Also previously you gave the vouchers for Thank You points.

    Really appreciate this.

Hey have you tried restaurant.com. I just found out about this great service. It is along the same line, but you can buy $25 gift certificates to restaurants for $10. It is more like a coupon as there are restrictions, but it is a great way to save some money. I found their restaurant selection is not the greatest, but it is much bigger than other programs I have seen.

  11. Anu I bet the reason is that items you’re ordering are not sold by Amazon itself but rather by some other retailer through Amazon. Prime promo credit only applies to items sold by Amazon, and you don’t need to enter anything, applied automatically.

  12. I signed up and ordered away! Thanks!!

  13. VicfromATL says

Too bad, it expired yesterday. I did enroll but no $10.

  14. thank you for the info on “do not upgrade”.
