Walgreens Pharmacy has a new promotion where you get a $25 gift card if you transfer a prescription over to them. Looks like you can do it online and have it shipped to you for free if you don’t want to pick it up. I remember when it seemed like every pharmacy was doing this and you could hop from one to the next for months. Some probably still do… Target, Wal-mart, CVS, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Kroger, and so on. Fine print quoted below. It appears to be one gift card per prescription transaction.

Purchase of transferred prescription is required and coupon must be presented at prescription payment. Limit one card per Transaction. Offer is not available on shipped prescriptions. Prescriptions cannot be transferred from another Walgreens or Duane Reade. Some card restrictions apply. Transfer offer expires 4/30/12.

The Walgreens card is redeemable only for retail merchandise at Walgreens Drugstores in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. It may not be used to purchase mandatory prescription co-pays, prescriptions, membership fees, transportation passes, charitable contributions, stamps, phone or gift cards, or dairy, tobacco or liquor products. Not redeemable for cash; no change will be given, and lost or stolen cards will not be replaced. Cardholder is responsible for sales tax. Certain items may be void or restricted where required by law.

This card is not valid for and cannot be used by any holder who is a beneficiary of a Federal health care program such as Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part B, Medicaid, TRICARE, or the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. Offer not available in Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Mississippi, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, New York, and New Jersey.

This is a great idea, I wished they operated something similar in the UK, $25 dollars is a great reward just for transferring over your prescription.

  2. I think the irony behind this entire promotion is the causality: losing the Express Scripts contract must have hit pretty hard. Incidentally, that means I can’t use this either. Stupid insurance.

  3. I was soooo excited when I found your nlog all the great ideas and pointers. Then I found this treasure! I take loads of rx’s and at 25 bucks a pop I was really excited to pay some bills I forgot to pay last month but…. then I saw your date it was posted.
