If you use Uber Eats, enter the promo code TRYNOW50 for 50% off your next pickup order (max discount $15). Look under “Account” and then “Promotions” to enter the code. This worked for me, even though it didn’t show up on its own. Mine says it will expire April 16th, 2021.

If you haven’t signed up for Uber Eats yet, you can first use my referral link to get $20 off your first order of $25+. Or simply apply this promo code at checkout: eats-ubermymoneyblog. Thanks if you use it!

  1. I’m struggling with the idea of ordering food through a delivery service, then going to pick it up myself. Also, Uber Eats has its own menu with (usually) inflated prices. Why not just order directly from the restaurant and save both you and the restaurant fees? What am I missing?

    • I don’t use Uber Eats for pickup when there is no promo, but this could be $15 off your meal funded by Uber marketing department. If you want to share that savings with the restaurant, you could always just leave a big tip (or view this as offsetting the tip you usually give anyway).

  2. I’ve been getting emails from Uber Eats and got a coupon code (MAR2021ENJOY30) for $30 off my first order. So I placed and order for three subs and it was over $60 delivered. The food was priced 30% higher than menu, there was a $12 delivery fee, $3 service charge, and $2 local service fee or something. Plus tip. So even with the coupon it was going to be over $30. Needless to say, I didn’t order. I used the restaurant’s app to order and picked up the food, and it was closer to $20 with a tip for the guys making the sandwiches.

    • Uber is definitely expensive after all the fees, and I avoid using it without a coupon, but you are also getting another human to drive to the restaurant and deliver it to your doorstep. A $12 delivery fee is the biggest that I’ve ever heard of, which means the place is probably far from your house. I always tip at least 15% but also stack with free delivery fee/Dashpass/Grubhub+, etc.

I am also a bit confused by your math. Let’s say three subs $10 each in store. 30% higher so $13 each on Uber. $13×3 + $17 in taxes/fees + $9 tip = $65. After coupon is $35 delivered and the driver gets paid $9 on top of his Uber income. Meanwhile, pickup should cost $30 + tip, so probably about equal, but I would have to pick it up (I’m not sure how that could come out $20 including a tip for in-store pickup.) In other words, if I had a $30 off no minimum coupon, I would definitely use it. It’s not that bad. 🙂

  3. Thank you for your referral link. It worked & you saved me $20.00.

P.S. You made me other money in the past, which I am thankful for.
