Social media something-or-other site Bckstgr.com is offering new users up to 1,000 United MileagePlus miles for registering and linking your Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare accounts. 400 miles for sign-up, 200 miles for each link. You have to provide your United frequent flier number and PIN, but as you can see on this United.com page, the partnership is legit. Came in handy for me, as United miles expire after 18 months of inactivity. Screenshot below:

Comments

  1. How long did it take for the miles to post?

  2. Now i wish that I didn’t apply the $400/40,000 miles bonus that I received from Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit card offer back toward another credit card debt (i need to stop piling it up again).

With all these additional bonus mileage offers lately, I could have been traveling out of country for a little needed vacation!

  3. For me, the miles did not post instantly. They show up in Bckstr after about an hour or so, but they aren’t in my United account yet. I’m sure they are getting slammed so I’ll wait the requested 24 hours before contacting their support.

  4. Got the 1,000 miles. I’m not sure exactly when they posted, but it was within 48 hours.

  5. I was going to link it to Twitter but I noticed that doing so said it would give Bckstgr rights to send tweets. … not knowing what it would do or send, that didn’t seem smart to let it tweet form my account.

I got the 400 miles for registering and stopped there. Good enough to keep my miles from expiring. Thanks.

  6. Jonathan,

Thanks for the post. But, I don’t believe United miles expire any longer now that they merged with Continental. Most of Continental’s “better” benefits from their frequent flyer program won out post-merger, including miles not expiring. Still, an easy way to pick up some United miles.

  7. CORRECTION: My earlier post was incorrect. As part of the merger, Continental-United miles now do expire. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused earlier.

  8. i forgot to link twitter when i registered. after i found i forgot it, i linked to twitter later and today i found i got 300 miles (instead of 200 miles). thanks a lot to jonathan!
