Update April 2025: I’ve continued to receive my $5 in SBUX credit every week with no issues, up to over $50 so far. Honestly, getting $5 worth of caffeine every week feels better than it should, no wonder Starbucks is effectively running its own currency. You do need to remember to log into the app every week (Fridays for me, not sure if same day for everyone). Now you can either sign up for Starbucks or Dunkin credit (thanks to DoC).

You can still get an additional one-time $5 cash bonus if you open through Aven.com/advisor and use my invite code JP25DJVG7K during the app sign-up. You’ll need to link a bank account via Plaid to get the $5 transferred to you.

Some caveats: Don’t accidentally sign-up for their credit card, it is not required to get this $5 weekly credit. They have also added new fine print that the offer is limited to residents of AL, AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MS, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, TN, UT, VA, WI, WY. This was not the case originally.

Original post from 2/3/2025:

Aven Advisor is a new app that promises to help to track your financial situation. Kind of like the old Mint app, you have to give them your personal info and link up bank accounts/credit cards, and then they offer a unique mix of things:

  • Free weekly credit score (VantageScore 4.0 for me, even though some screenshots show FICO).
  • Find your hidden subscriptions by mining your transactions.
  • Track your home value, neighborhood home prices, and show you nearby house listings.
  • Get a free lien report on your property.
  • Track your bank balances, brokerage balances, and credit card debt.
  • Track the value of your car.
  • Shows you nearby Facebook Marketplace listing for cars and other random things.

So why give them your data? Well, if you are a homeowner with a good credit (700+), they will give you $5 in Starbucks credit once every week. You have to manually open the app and tap the link on every Monday (so they know you’re actively using it), but I’ve successfully gotten my credit. Loads right onto my Starbucks app, see screenshot below.

Join at Aven.com/advisor (remember, only homeowners get the Starbucks offer). You can also get an additional one-time $5 cash bonus with my referral code JP25DJVG7K. Thanks if you use it. You’ll have to link a bank account via Plaid to transfer the $5 into your account.

Comments

  1. I downloaded the app. It will ask a lot of personal information, including the last four of your SSN, DOB, home address, signature, etc. I delete the app without completing the whole process. I just don’t feel comfortable.

    • Perfectly understandable. That’s why they have to compensate folks to go through with it. 🙂 They are like Credit Karma, etc. and need that to access your credit report.

  2. I opened with your referral and see the offer for the GC but How do you actually access the $5 gift card after clicking the link?

    • I forget exactly, but you should have $5 to “Redeem” somewhere on the app and you’ll have to link a bank account using Plaid to redeem it. I got mine without issue.

  3. Joseph Palmieri says

The address dropdown for my address is not being accepted by the app. The dropdown address is showing a null within it & I can’t get passed this page. If possible, please tell me who I can contact about this problem.

  4. You didn’t mention they require uploading photo id. That’s a bit much for $5 starbucks!

  5. what if they get hacked! not worth it to me.

  6. Worked perfectly for my wife. Enjoy the $5.

  7. Does the $5 roll over every week And keep adding up if it’s not used?

    • You have to manually check in on the app every Monday, and they’ll send you a $5 gift card via Cashstar. You can just transfer it immediately to your existing Starbucks app if you want and not use it, just like any gift card.

  8. Tried to sign up but was unable to take a pix of my driver’s license with their app, so could not complete enrollment. Any thoughts? Thanks.

  9. Do they have a website to sign up or the app is a MUST.

  10. After a couple weeks with no issue,
I didn’t pay attention when getting the $5 starbucks this week…. and they tricked me to sign up for their credit card (I thought I was accepting the gift card, I guess it was applying…) and did a hard credit check on me before I could react…
I definitely regret taking their offer. They didn’t ask for any confirmation.
I recommend to stay away from them. Not worth it…

    • Update:
After contacting the support (by email, I couldn’t by phone), they understood the issue, closed the account (that hopefully won’t appear on my credit score) and requested Experian to reverse the hard pull on my credit score.
My opinion on Aven went a bit up after their good follow-up & support.
Still, I think their $5 offer is making it way too easy to apply by mistake.

  11. Registration doesn’t work. Keep getting a “Cannot reset password” error when trying to register. Customer service hasn’t been helpful.

  12. $5 Starbucks is not available in every state and they do not disclose which states are eligible! NJ is not fwiw.

  13. Matt McDaniel says

So what is the business model here? They sell your data to lenders so that they can make you credit offers?

  14. how do they verify home ownership? for example, where my spouse owns our current condo so I am not on the title but have been living there for many years?

  15. Today I decided to give it a go. When I click on your link, it asks if I’m a renter or homeowner and asks for my cell. I provide it, and it texts me a link. When I click on the link, I get the following:

    PAGE NOT FOUND
Sorry, looks like we sent you the wrong way. Let’s fix that.

Do you think this offer is no more?

  16. i downloaded the app and registered. linked some of my bank accounts. For the free $5per week for Starbucks it says i need to link more accounts to demonstrate i am at or under 55% DTI (debt to income).
i am unable to link my fidelity account (which is where my payroll and investments are) through their Plaid connection (not compatible). so i guess that means i can’t qualify for the $5 per week promo? Any workarounds?

  17. The same thing is happening to me, when I click the link (https://www.aven.com/advisorApp?cm=-mc4sc) they sent to my phone.
