Southwest Airlines is offering 500 Rapid Rewards points if you sign up for their e-mail subscriptions for a monthly statement and deals newsletters. Relatively easy, and if you’re already signed up, try unsubscribing for a day or two and then signing up again at the link.

If you have a Southwest Airlines-affiliated credit card, you can get another 1,000 points by visiting this page and watching a 2-minute video. You’ll need to enter your RR number and the last 4 digits of your credit card at the end. Thanks for reader Brian for the tip. (Update: May be targeted to specific cardholders.)

  1. I have now tried the video 3 times and when I input my card information I get an error message to “reference the printed offer.” Is anyone else having this issue?

  2. “The information you entered is not recognized. Please reference your printed offer. Also remember that if you have multiple accounts, this promotion pertains only to the account number indicated by your offer.”

Looks like you have to receive an offer to view the video first…

  3. Bummer, I have updated the post to reflect that it may be a targeted offer. It would be nice if they told you before the video.

  4. Funny thing is I actually received the mail offer a few days after I watched the video, someone posted on fatwallet. 🙂

  5. I got a post card in the mail telling me to go to a website and watch this video. But the post card, and website, said I would get 1,000 bonus points – not 500 as your post says.

  6. 500 for email, 1000 for video

  7. Do you know how to unsubscrib it?

  8. I received the offer in the mail and completed the web site tasks shortly thereafter. No points ever posted to my Southwest account. Has anyone actually gotten the points from this? Who can we call who might be able to fix it?

  9. I did the video on 10/9, I got the 1000 on 11/28. Just a FYI.
