Here is an updated application link at Pinecone Research, which is again accepting new members. (May expire at any time, so apply now if you’re interested!) Looks open to all, but only one person per household can sign up. Thanks Rafa for the tip.

PineCone Research remains one of the better paying and reliable survey companies, with a payout of $3 (check or PayPal) for each 15-minute online survey. The hardest part is getting accepted, as they only take applications intermittently. Some users have reported an increase in unpaid “weed-out” surveys, while others seem to remain happy.

Other legit survey sites in my experience are SurveySavvy, InboxDollars, Opinion Outpost, GlobalTestMarket, NFO MySurvey, and BzzAgent.

I shared my thoughts on paid surveys in general here. I call them Bored Money – not terribly efficient but you can do it at your leisure and occasionally get to try some neat things like shampoo, dog food, new soda flavors, and once a new $100 Sonicare toothbrush which I got to keep.

I use Toluna.us. Probably made close to $120 in the last 8-12mo (they absorbed Greenfield (of which I was a member of since ’98) and your2cents). Payout can be made directly to your paypal account and you cashout once you bank $40. Other payment options are available.

takes time, patience, and dedication, but it’s a good way to get some extra scratch.

  2. I quit doing the surveys. Somone can have my spot. I would rather sit and do nothing and make nothing for the 15 minutes or so it takes to fill those things out. I think they should pay at least $10 considering the fact that companies pay a lot more than 3 bucks a head for the kind of feedback they get from these things.

  3. Robert, I completely agree. I have said as much in previous posts and I can’t figure out why the blogger keeps pushing these.

The only thing I can imagine is that he’s getting paid to push this worthless time waster.

  4. Robert+Ed, I’m with you. I’ve stopped the pinecone surveys too. I know they aren’t supposed to be huge revenue sources, so the $3 doesn’t bother me. What made me quit was the fact that the surveys were so incredibly boring and repetititve. I felt like I was being paid for 15 minutes of torture, not work.
Plus when I can earn $3 from BofA keep the change program in 1 minute worth of clicking it makes Pinecone look kind of lame.

Oh I can think of sooo many better ways to spend 15 minutes…though a wouldn’t mind a free SoniCare tooth brush 🙂

  6. I post up new Pinecone links whenever someone sends a new one to me. They usually open up their membership every few months, depending on how full they are I suppose. The people who send me the links are usually thankful people who signed up themselves here, so I don’t feel bad at all.

As with everything, if it doesn’t work for you, then don’t do it. It’s just a marketing & survey company, these things will be around until the end of time. You’d be surprised how many people are searching for this link!

I used Pinecone for a while but I just found that the amount of time and effort necessary to complete the surveys weren’t really worth it. They are kind of interesting to see what kind of spin or information the companies are interested in.

  8. I used Pinecone for awhile a couple years ago, but for some reason, all the surveys I got were related to dog food or cat food (I don’t own any pets). I think after the second survey I skipped, they stopped sending me links!
