Pepper Rewards App: 10% Back on Amazon or Walmart Gift Cards (New Users) + 7/16-7/17 Amazon Promo (Existing Users)

Update 7/16/24: Pepper has 1.5X points on Amazon for Prime Day (7/16 and 7/17). That works out to 7.5% off on Amazon gift cards, plus you still get whatever credit card rewards from the Pepper purchase. Total savings could be 9.5%+. The gift cards show up instantly, so you can use them immediately with Prime Day offers.

Update 6/26/24: For 6/26 only, everyone should see 2X on Amazon = 10% back on Amazon gift certificates! This Pepper app is the gift that keeps on giving.

Update 6/24/24: Existing Pepper users should check your Pepper-linked e-mail address for a new offer from Pepper with the title “🚨 10% back everywhere starts now! Ends June 30th”. I don’t know if this is targeted or not. I don’t see it within the app itself, which is concerning. Below is the fine print from the bottom of the e-mail.

*No code necessary. Get 10% back on all merchants. Offer valid from June 24th, 2024 at 12:00 AM ET until June 30th, 2024 at 11:59 PM ET. Only purchases charged to the card will count toward the total. Points will be
issued on July 15, 2024, by 5:00 PM ET.

I’ve been using Pepper to fulfill credit card bonus spending requirements. Before, I was hesitant to give up my 5% back from Amazon that I got from my Amazon Prime credit card, but now I can just get 5% back from Pepper + the rewards from the current credit card bonus I’m working on. But 10% would be much better! New users can still use the referral link below to get 10% back on all gift cards for 15 days. See below for details.

Update April 2024: A reminder to check on your bonus points and/or “Anywhere Cash” as they post quietly without any notification (at least for me) but also expire after a while if not used. The new customer referral offer (see below) is still Double points for 15 days, which is another way of saying 10% back for 15 days since the standard is 5% back. This is on top of any credit card rewards. The extra points don’t show up until shortly after your 15-day promo period ends.

I’m still using this app after the intro offer, as it effectively gives me 7.6% back on Amazon gift cards (5% standard cash back + 2.6% credit card rewards from Bank of America), so that’s how I’ve been funding all my Amazon purchases. As long as you have a 2% cash back card, that’s still 7% back and higher than other options. The Amazon gift card codes are created immediately and you can thus load them instantly into your Amazon account. I initially ended up buying $2,000 of Amazon gift cards (10% off = $200 savings), which also helped me reach the spending hurdle on a credit card bonus. I’ve since bought even more than $2,000 in Amazon and Walmart gift cards. The limits per day and per week may vary by person, but I stayed under $500 per day but tried multiple days. Everything has worked as promised so far.

Pepper also runs weekly promos on select brands, just remember that every 20 points = $5 in gift cards. So if they offer you an extra 20 points on a $125 purchase, then instead of $6.25 back you’d get $11.25 back (9% off $125) plus your own credit card rewards.

Here’s the current offer:

  • Download the Pepper Rewards app and be sure to enter a referral code 588494 on the first screen when joining. They don’t say anything about $20 for the first $100 purchase anymore so it’s probably gone, but I’d still try to make my first purchase $100+, just in case.
  • Get double points for the first 15 days. You can buy up to $500 in Amazon gift cards per day and $2,000 per month, for a total of $200 back on a $2,000 purchase. The standard is 5% back, for a total of 10% back (you might get more on select stores that go on sale). Be sure to finish up your purchases within the 15-day window.

Pepper is an iOS and Android app that sells discounted, new gift cards in exact amounts that are delivered instantly on your phone. This lets you to wait until the moment before purchase when you already have the final purchase price (in-person or online), and then go buy a discounted gift card via the app down to the penny. The main problem with gift cards is when you don’t use up the entire balance. This helps to avoid the waste.

Some more data points, there seems to be a $500 daily limit and a $2000 monthly limit. My BOA cc considers this an online purchase so I am also getting 5.25% (preferred rewards) back on each purchase. I recommend taking a picture of the GC immediately just in case there ever is an issue with the app. So between my wife and I we will get about $3k of mostly walmart GCs at a 15.25% discount.

  2. fails on Verify Phone Number. Error and no other info

  3. I’ve decided to use this to satisfy a credit card sign-up bonus spending hurdle. It’s nice that you can use up the rewards as you go on the next gift card.

  4. After the $100 purchase, when does the $20 referral bonus towards a future purchase post to your account?

  5. I didn’t know about limits. I bought $600 worth of cards they deactivated my account for “security reasons”.

  6. I have the Target and Amazon 5% credit cards, but what is great about this deal is that I can purchase the gift cards with my Fidelity 2% cash back card. In total, I can now earn 7% cash back after the bonus expires.

Question, I am assuming it takes 30 days to be able to withdraw? Thanks for the link!

I’ve got 5 / 2500$ in the past few days, thank you JP!

Also if you have Chase credit cards, check your “Chase offers” online. 3 of mine give 10% back at Home Depot up to $500 and it stacks according to the DOC.

  8. App has changed playing a game for mathematically challenged. It gived 100 points per $1 and 2000 points(with a lot of restrictions) can be redeemed for $1. Essentially 5% return with a lot of complexity.

    • Yeah, it’s confusing. I just remember that the standard rewards amount remains 5% back (must redeem in $5 increments).

Today (6/26), they are offering everyone 2X on Amazon, which means 10% back on Amazon gift cards. You get 5% in points now and the extra 5% on July 15th. I do a lot of shopping at Amazon and Whole Foods, so I just bought $1,000 worth.

  9. The point system is totally screwed up after they made the change to the point system. The value of the points show up as different amounts depending on if you look at it on the app when you redeem, in the app on the Total Points page, or in an email that shows your points total. As an example, my Total Points page shows that I have $61,639 worth of points!!!!

I don’t trust Pepper anymore, beginning when they started playing around with the points system. They seem to want to confuse the user so that you can’t figure out what is going on with the point system, allowing them to change it and potentially reduce the value of existing points every now and then. In their most recently announcement when they went to this new points system, I hurried and spent all my points (around $700 worth) that weekend before the change.

Now it is totally confusing, and I don’t understand what my points are worth, am I really getting $5 worth of points for $100 spend, will that $5 worth of points still be $5 in the future, or will it be $4 or $3 depending on how they play around with the points.

    • I agree, the way the points show up is messed up, but I keep track of all my purchases and I’ve been getting all the cash back. The gift card codes show up immediately (I apply them to my Amazon account right away) and the 5% in points also shows up right away (you can check by trying to make another small gift card purchase and using points but not finishing the transaction; the extra 5% or 2.5% shows up later), so even in the worst case I’m still ahead.
