Lowes 10% Off Coupon
Saw this ad for a 10% off Lowes coupon while futzing around at Zillow. Looks to be targeted at movers. I’ve used these before, they are quite handy if you’re looking to make a big purchase.
Coupon is not redeemable for cash, is nontransferable and cannot be used in conjunction with any other coupon or discount. Void if copied, transferred, or sold through any on-line auctions. Limit one coupon per household. Good for a single purchase of any in-stock or Special Order merchandise only up to $5,000 (Maximum discount $500). Not valid on previous sales, service or installation fees, the purchase of gift cards, or any products by Fisher & Paykel, Electrolux, John Deere or Weber.
Your coupon is uniquely coded, so it can be used only once at any Lowe’s® store.

Does anybody know if the Depot and Lowes still accept eachother’s coupons??
Need to make an appliance purchase and would love to use this but it’s at the Depot.
TIA

Red,
A couple of month’s ago I used a Lowe’s coupon at Home Depot. On a separate trip they accepted an Ace Hardware coupon.
YMMV,
Justin

You get them all the time if you pick up the movers packet from your local post office. You can also take them to Home Depot and they’ll honor the Lowes coupon too.

Rahul, I didn’t see actual coupons in those packets, but coupon applications. HD doesn’t seem to send actual coupons if you’re trying to apply too often.

does the coupon have an expiration date?

All,
You can buy Lowe’s 10% off coupons on Ebay for about $1.00 a piece. As long as you use them for purchases over $10, you’re saving money.
Also, Home Depot and Lowes DO accept each other’s coupons and also offer the price match guarantee.

Vlad:
I had picked up coupons from the San Jose, CA post office just last month when I bought cabinets for my garage. I have always seen Lowes coupons there as far as I remember. No applications…proper 10-15% off coupons.
Maybe be different city to city.

My dad tried to use a lowes coupon I printed and my local home depot (in the san francisco area) wouldn’t honor it despite a large sign outside that says they will honor competitor’s coupon. So we just took our business to lowes.
Remodelling my entire home and don’t think I’ll step into home depot again just for that.

I am a cashier at Home Depot and we do accept coupons from Lowe’s or any other store as long as they are not printed out online. Apparently there were people making their own coupons and Home Depot was not able to verify whether they were real or not.
And if you saw a cheaper item at another store we’ll match it and always make sure they beat the price by 10%.

I wonder how that works. I am sure one needs to provide some sort of proof that a product is being sold at a specific prices at another store. The question is what kind of proof can it be? A store printer catalogue with prices? I don’t think a cashier has online access to check prices of another store online. I don’t think it should be enough for me to come to Home Depot and say “This product at Lowe’s costs $100. You need to sell it to me for $90.”.
So the question is, what should I do to benefit from this customer-friendly policy?
Thanks.

If you go into Lowes and say something is on sale at Home Depot for a price they suspect is not correct, they will actually call to verify! But for the most part, the Lowes department manager is very well aware of other local prices and he would normally know if you are snowing them or not. I’ve seen the floor salesman call and ask the department manager if such and such a price was correct of not.

As far as those postal moving packages, they used to always put the coupon in the package, but they don’t do that anymore because people were getting 5 packages from USPS and cheating the system. That’s why they’ve gone to the online registration. However, in some cases the post office has “older” packages that still have the coupon, so depending on how frequently they run out, you might still be able to find them.

OSH is a bit of a scam when it comes to competitor match coupons. I walked in with the advertisement and an actual item (some canvas) that I’d bought at Home Depot and asked them to match it because they were an hour closer to my house. They wouldn’t because the UPCs didn’t match. That sounds reasonable until we held the items up right next to each other… and everything down to the label was identical! When the manager walked away the clerk revealed the trick to me… OSH, Home Depot and Lowe’s are all big enough that the vendors provide them with special UPCs so that stuff bought at one vendor can’t be returned at another…but then they abuse these “different” UPCs to avoid their own price match guarantees at OSH. The clerks are actually taught this he said!!
These days avoiding keeping your word has become more of an OSH skill than plain old honesty. I went to Lowe’s which was only a touch farther and they saw the products were identical and matched it straightway!!
