~8%, not bad. At least it’s greater than inflation. I don’t think it takes effect until July, but it’s nice to know it’s coming. To celebrate, we just ordered a new Nissan Xterra SE 4×4 – just kidding! I don’t think we’re going to do anything different at all. How boring.

On that note, I’m following her on a conference trip this week. I’ll still be posting, but my e-mail turnaround time will be even worse than usual…

  1. congrats (to your wife). none for you.

why not take her out for a nice night somewhere (while on the trip) to celebrate?

Congrats! 8% is quite good actually. I’ve been lucky if I can keep the people that work for me up with inflation. (Our average increase is 3%) :/

Hey, congratulations. Nothing different at all? At least admit that you’ll ramp up your savings (and pay more in taxes). That money has to go somewhere!

  4. Out of curiosity, what field does your wife work in?

I got a 10% raise (sounds a lot but really not, since my base is rather low) after 3 employees (more important kind) jump ship in the last 3 months. My boss finally took the hint and start offering salary increases after 2 year freeze.

On the other hand, I feel the pain on my capitalist boss side. The company hasn’t been truly profitable in years and it finally turn a little profit this year.

  6. Great to have a wife that has a money-making job.

  7. Not going to bump up your 401k contributions? if nothing else is done differently then you wont miss the extra money going into the retirment account… 🙂

  8. Congrats!

  10. Congrats to your wife!

  11. 8% raise is great! Most places I’ve worked at top out at 5% for anybody.

  12. Well, I suppose you could always “up” her 401k contribution with her entire raise. I’ve done that the last couple years, and have maxed out the 401k, all while not noticing a difference in my paycheck. This year was the first year I couldn’t roll my raise in but we are seeing the benefit of it in our monthly income.

Alternatively, you could send me the additional income each month. I’d put it go GOOOOOOD use.

  13. Unfortunately, my wife is not offered any sort of retirement plan benefits. By not doing anything different, I just mean any extra money will be saved towards our goals as usual.

Jeff, the check is in the mail… 😉
