Improved $50 refer-a-friend offer. The Voyager app offers trading of various cryptocurrencies including bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). They also currently pay 3.25% APY on up to 0.25 BTC and 9% APY on USDC balances up to $25,000 for those that have done their due diligence on asset-backed stablecoins. It is now live in 49 out of 50 states (all but New York).

Refer-a-Friend bonus. They have recently improved their refer-a-friend program to $50 in free Bitcoin for new users (formerly $25) after they open an account and trade $100 minimum. The referrer gets $50 in VGX token (formerly $25). You can easily just perform a quick buy-and-sell transaction to satisfy the requirements, and transfer dollars back into your bank account if you wish. Quickly link your existing bank account for deposits and withdrawals using the Plaid service.

Here is my $25 BTC referral link (open via smartphone), although it just redirects to the App Store. Thanks if you use it! In order to ensure you are credited properly, be sure to enter my referral promo code JONA3F in the “Reward Code” area during the account sign-up process, fund your account, and trade $100 of BTC. You should then see $50 of BTC deposited in your account within 72 hours as a referral bonus. You can also then start referring others for more bonuses. Contact rewards@investvoyager.com if you need support. Here’s a screenshot from my account showing the former $25 BTC bonuses:

Voyager’s CEO is Stephen Ehrlich, the former CEO and founder of Lightspeed Financial (spun off by E*Trade). Oscar Salazar, Uber co-founder and former Chief Technical Officer. Philip Eytan, an early Uber investor. Here is a Fortune magazine profile. Voyager is listed on the Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE) and owns a FINRA broker-dealer license.

  1. Seriously? You don’t own BTC yet you’re hawking an app selling it. This blog continues to become nothing more than a cash grab.

    • I’m sorry you feel that way, but I must disagree. This is exactly what I’ve been writing about since the beginning. In 2007 and 2008, I wrote about a free Sharebuilder $50 bonuses that you could use to buy a partial share of Berkshire (BRK.A) and keep forever. I never owned a share of BRK before then, either, but it was free money for a few clicks. It’s now worth more than an entire share of BRK.B. I simply wanted to make it clear that I’m not putting all my eggs in BTC, and I wasn’t putting all my eggs in BRK either.

If you just want $25, simply sell the bitcoin as soon as you get it and cash out.

  2. I signed up. I will leave the free $25 in BTC and check back in a few years. Maybe it will be worth more.

    • Yes, I’ve been debating that as well. See my previous comment about putting $50 in Berkshire Hathaway with an old Sharebuilder $50 bonus back in 2007. The total share price went from about $118,000 to $310,000, but the partial share is only worth about $130 now. Some might call it interesting and want to keep it riding another decade, others might get bored.

  3. Voyager is full of crap, that initial lead you gave them as a referral will never pay out, they’ll just claim the folks never did the second part of the requirement which is to install and use the app …Oldest farming leads trick in the book…the ole 2 part sign-up..

    • Skepticism is good, but why make claims that you can’t back up? I ended up getting my $25 and several referral bonuses as well. Worked fine for me.

    • I signed up for Voyager when there was a promotion last year when they partnered with Mark Cuban for 100$ in BTC and got it with no issues. Others I know have gotten it as well. I have also referred people with no issues. So not really sure what you are talking about.

  4. You can check this. It gives you free bitcoin. Just need your Bitcoin Wallet add and create pin then you will receive your free Bitcoin.

  5. Is there an update on if this paid out? I got a follow up email, but it looks like they changed terms to need to reade $250

    • I have updated the post. The short version is that Voyager is now live in 49 states, all but New York. I got my $25 bonus and also the referral credits, so this bonus is legit. If you signed up for this bonus, claim your money/bitcoin by downloading the app and opening an account.

    • I got 25 jus for signing up an didn’t even know I was going to

  6. Am I alone is feeling that Bitcoin feels like a ponzi scheme? I don’t know, I’ve looked into Bitcoin, I actually even tried it a year ago, and got out. It’s not for me. There’s too many negatives.
