Amazon: Pay with Discover Card Points, Get $10 off $50 or 30%/$40 Off (Targeted)

Discover it 14 ImageCheck to see if eligible again for this new round. If you have a Discover card with cash back rewards, you can redeem them to buy eligible items at Amazon.com. The redemption rate is $1 in Cash Back Bonus = $1 to spend at Amazon, which is the same rate as their statement credit redemptions. Check each of these targeted promotions and activate for an additional discount for redeeming a single penny’s worth of points. Here are some additional tips:

  • If you haven’t linked your Discover yet, you can link your Discover Cashback points balance to your Amazon account here. Check again, possibly waiting a day or two.
  • If you have already linked your Discover card previously and aren’t targeted, consider removing your Discover card from your account completely, and then linking it again after a day. Try again in a day or two.
  • Items must be marked as both sold AND shipped by Amazon.com.
  • Be sure to select your Discover Card as your payment method and redeem at least 1 point or $0.01 in value of Discover points.
  • You should see the promo credit on final order checkout page, right before final purchase.

This is a recurring perk for existing Discover cardholders, which is why I never cancel a card with no annual fee. Check out my Discover it credit card review, one of my keeper 5% cash back cards.

  1. Aside from clicking the activation button above, how do we otherwise find and activate these offers? And then where do we look in our Amazon account to find that they are there to use? (without getting all the way to the point where we pay).
Also, a related question – does anyone know the place in our Amazon account where our available digital and promo credits are so we can see what we have? Amazon seems to do a great job of hiding them.
    Thank you!

    • I don’t know of any other way to track these credit card point promotions except on the last page before checkout.

You can check your No Rush Shipping and Amazon Day credits here.

  2. I tried to click on the promotion icon on the ad banner for the Discover cash back 30% off and I get the following response.

Your points will be applied at checkout but we were not able to activate the promo code. If you have already activated this code, your discount will be applied at checkout.

When I go to the checkout page and finalize the use of the Discover card and paying some of it by the cash back account balance, then final total remains the same with no discount.

    • Are you sure your cart only contained items “Shipped AND Sold by Amazon.com”? Lots of stuff isn’t sold my Amazon anymore, even if it is Prime.

      • Yes, the item in my shopping cart is shipped and sold by Amazon and not a third party merchant. The item has a holiday return period deadline of January 31, 2022 with free return shipping. I can return it to a local Amazon shipping center without going through UPS, FedEx, or USPS.

  3. I checked and got the 40% offer, but the max discount is $20.
