Groupon has a national deal through the end of March 1st that will get you three one-day rentals at RedBox kiosks for $1. Retail is $1 per day, so $3. If you don’t have a Groupon account already, please use my sign-up link, and I’ll get some Groupon credit for referring you. Then visit the deal link. Not valid on Blu-ray or video games.

Expires Jun 1, 2011. Limit 1 per person, may buy 2 additional as gifts. May redeem across up to 3 visits. Tax included.

If you’ve never used Redbox before, first-time users that register for a new account on their website also get a code for a free rental after their first paid rental. The unofficial site InsideRedbox is a good source for ongoing free coupon codes. Here is a kiosk locator.

    If it’s the same as the last one (I assume it will be), it’s “valid” for blu-ray, it just doesn’t cover the full rental. If you use the codes for blu-ray (I used one last night), you simply get a credit for $1.00 on the rental. It ended up being $0.53 for one night rental of blu-ray after tax.

    You actually used it for blu-ray or are you just saying it should work this way?

    The Groupon itself says no blu-ray allowed.

    If you could clarify, that would be great.

    I’m not sure what part of my message is not clear. I used one of the groupon codes from the last time they offered it, and I got a credit for $1.00 on the rental. The total ended up being $0.53 for one night’s rental after tax was added.

    The previous groupon also said it was not valid for blu-ray.

    I can’t guarantee this one will work with blu-ray, but there’s a really good chance it will work the same way (the wording is exactly the same). Given the poor blu-ray selection at the redboxes, though, I don’t expect to have any problem using up the credits even if it doesn’t work.
