TripAlertz $1 Bonus For Easily Referring Others – Like Groupon For Travel

TripAlertz.com is a new site that is basically like Groupon for travel, even though Groupon already does travel.

The refer-a-friend program works in that the referring person gets $10 for referring a new user. Here is my TripAlertz sign-up link. The new user only has to sign up with an e-mail address, nothing else, no purchase required. However, the new user does not get a bonus. So while you don’t get a bonus right away, joining quickly means you get $10 from any of your friends that sign up with just an e-mail address. Literally just takes seconds. If you get 47 people to sign-up, you could get the 3-night Aruba package on the home page for free.

Update 10/14: Looks like they changed it to just $1 per referral. Oh well.

  1. Thanks Jonathan! I used your link to register mine. Thank you for your hard work to let us know the good deals.

    Nice tip

  3. How long does it take before they credit your account with the $10?

  4. Update!

Crap, I read this wrong last night! Only the referring person gets $10. To make this right, I am not going to use any of this credit for myself at all. I am going to raffle off access to my account with all $500 or so in referrals on it, to the people who actually let me refer them. Referred e-mails show up on my account. I don’t have any personal credit card info linked to it, so it should work.

So, if you signed up with my link, I’m sorry but there will be no $10 bonus. Instead, you will a commensurate chance to win $500 or more, ending on Wednesday night and winner to be announced on Friday.

For example, if 50 people signed up and $500 was racked up, each of you will get a 1 in 50 chance of winning $500. I apologize for the error, and I will not spend any of the money in this account from any referrals.

  5. Confirmed, I can change the e-mail on the account easily, so I’ll simply “give” the winner my TripAlertz account with all the money inside. Only people who used my referral link (on the day and day after my erroneous posting) will be eligible.

  6. Still, I don’t regret signing up. I’ll still forward to my friends to get the $10. I think you should keep the referal rewards you get – you run a great site and I’m always happy to sign up for sites that give you a bonus :)

  7. Dito to Michael ! Great job Jonathan.

  8. @Michael @Alex – Thanks for the nice words of support, but I would feel better about things this way. I like my solution because in gambling/lottery terms the “expected value” of the giveaway is $10 per person.

Someone will win a good chunk of cash towards a trip package! Enough to pay in full for the 3-night packages to Aruba and Cozumel on the front page right now. (Not quite enough for the $95,000 trip into space.)

  9. Thanks Jonathan! Your posts help me a lot. I’m glad I can use your referral link to pay you back. You deserve it!

  10. Okay, as promised everyone who signed up on 11/11 and 11/12 will be entered for a drawing for my TripAlertz account, which has over $1,000 in TripCash in it. Winner to be announced on Friday.

  11. What about those people who signed up on 10/13? Do we get included in the TripCash raffle? :)

  12. @Oliver, that wouldn’t be fair to Jonathan, would it?

  13. Sorry, only those readers who caught my error from Tuesday early on and acted on it are in the raffle. I changed the link as of Thursday morning to another different account.

This is still a nice offer, almost in the “too good to be true” neighborhood. New users don’t need to even enter their name, just sign-up with e-mail and password. I’m sure they monitor for abuse, but it’s still really easy to rack up referrals on Facebook and and such.

  14. Winner has been notified – ja************@gmail.com

  15. looks like this promotion is dead. They’ve switched it to $1 referrals. LOL
