Sunrocket VoIP Phone Service – 2 Years for $199

Speaking of cheap phone service, SunRocket is now offering two years of VoIP phone service for $199. That’s $8.30 a month for unlimited long-distance and just about every phone feature out there! And that includes all taxes. The only catch is that it’s only for the first 1,000 customers, so I’d decide quickly.

I’ve been using SunRocket instead of a landline for over a year now now and I’m very happy with it. Check out my SunRocket VoIP Phone Service Review for a detailed rundown of my thoughts.

Remember http://www.bountyzoo.com give you $60 cash back after you sign up. Bring down the rate to under $6 a month.

Time to give good ol’ Vonage a call and make them aware of this offer. We’ll see if they want to keep me or let me run off to one of their competitors.

  3. chee Says:

apparently the deal is gone! last checked the sunrocket website, the deal is no longer there…

I’ve been using SunRocket for over a month now. I got it to save money and cancel my other landline phone.

Unfortunately for me, the transfer number service they offer is ridiculously slow. So I am still paying for my other landline to be active while SunRocket takes 2 months+ to get the phone number transferred so I can cancel the original landline service!

Another issue is that they give new subscribers numbers out to telemarketers, but with SunRocket’s blocking ability, you can block those numbers out.

  5. Anonymous Says:

Thanks! I was able to sign up for this offer a couple of hours ago but it is now expired.

  6. LSD Says:

Just wait until the next time they offer it. They have done so on every holiday so far.

  7. Jbo Says:

sillycat how does Bountyzoo work? If I’ve already made the purchase is there anyway to get the 60 dollars still?

  8. Jbo Says:

I joined sunrocket recently after reading the review here and seeing that it had a decent review at dssreports.com
I was a vonage customer for almost 2 years, but I’ve made a switch to sunrocket. Switching from one VOIP to another is easier to keep your same number as you can loggin to your old VOIP system and do number forwarding while you are waiting for your number to tranfer, so if anybody calls your old number that you want to keep, it will ring on your new system.

When comparing it to vonage I have these pros and cons:

    Pros:
*Sound quailty seemed much better than vonage
*Many more options than vonage such as call blocking
*Two phone numbers, while vonage charged 5 dollars for an extra phone number (plus the CSR told me you can change the virtual number as many times as you want)
    * I was paying 27 dollars a month

    Cons:
*If your system isn’t working or your internet is down, and somebody calls you it will show a busy signal. With vonage you can set it up so that if for some reason the call can’t be made it will be forwarded to another number such as a cell phone. If you live in a hurricane state, this is important. I called sunrocket and they said that they would have this feature online in a month or so. So hopefully they will
    * No call waiting deluxe. Vonage spoiled me with call waiting deluxe and now if i”m on the phone and the phone rings it just says phone. The caller ID isn’t that good either compared to vonage. It will display the number, but the name sometimes it just gives you the city and a few times it was a city that’s completely in another town.

It works great. The quality of the line is much better than Skype. Plus u can call many countries around the world for free.

The only catch is that you must buy credits worth 10 Euro to use the free calls. The 10 Euro is valid for 120 days. (towards the end of 120 days, you might want to call countries that are NOT free to use up the 10 Euro.)

As I said, the quality is amazing.

  10. ProfessorB Says:

Thanks, Jbo, for listing your comparison between SunRocket and Vonage.

  11. sillycat Says:

Jbo, I don’t think there is a way you can get the $60 from BountyZoo after you sign up.

  12. sillycat Says:

BountyZoo works like fatwallet and ebates. You can use http://www.evreward.com to find the link I think.

  13. Anonymous Says:

There is a yearly $35 fee associated with Bounty Zoo, you get $10 for signing up so it’s really $25 for the first year. Just wanted you all to be aware of that.

  14. Anonymous Says:

Don’t forget that there is an ‘annual’ $35 admin fee for BountyZoo. You get $10 off when you first sign-up, so you’re only saving about $35 (= 60 – 35 + 10).

  15. Jbo Says:

yeah, I noticed the 35 dollars at bountyzoo, seems fatwallet gives you 20 dollars for sunrocket, which I’m sure I’m too late for both anyway.

Just to let you guys know, I got mine for 1 year and 3 months and I did this a few days before the 1,000 customer special for 1 year free for 199. So basically I signed up for 15 months for 199, when a few days later I saw this post that they were offering it for 24 months. I called customer service and asked if they would allow me to get the special for the extra year instead of just 3 months, they were so nice and they allowed and they changed my plan. Not bad making a phone call and getting 9 more months free (didn’t hurt to try).

I spoke to a family member who was using vonage also and they were intrested in switching, but the 199 for two years deal was gone from their web page. I told my family member to give them a call and tell them you really want to switch, but you were only intrested when you saw the two years for 199. Well to make a long story short, two different family member got the 199 for two years deal even though it expired on their webpage. They really want new customers and their price is nice, especially locking in for 2 years :)

  16. Jonathan Says:

Dang, that offer died fast. I thought it would last longer than a day and a half!

  17. Jbo Says:

One thing that just has been annoying me while I wait for my number transfer is that it seems sunrocket has sold my number to ever single solicitor in the planet. The temp number I guess I could register it with http://www.donotcall.gov, but I’m transfering the number soon anyway.

What makes things worse is that I can’t even block them with sunrocket’s blocking feature. One called today with the number 000000 and no name on the caller ID. There’s just not a way to block that.

Oh, well hopefully once my old number is transfered that sunrocket doesn’t give it to anybody as it is already registered with the donotcall site.

  18. Mr. Shiney Says:

I’ve been a SR customer for more than a year and lately I’m not so happy. Outgoing voice quality is TERRIBLE. Half the time I have to give up and call up people using my cell phone instead — that’s if they’re polite enough to admit they can’t understand me through all the crackly interference and voice-breakup that sounds like I’m on a damaged cell phone going through a tunnel.

  19. Brion Says:

I have VoIP at work, but haven’t made the switch on my personal line yet. The 911 issue needs to be worked out in my opinion. Otherwise, I think anyone considering this should also keep a back-up phone that plugs directly into their telephone jack and does not require electricity (emergency phone).

Comcast is doing a nationwide roll-out for digital voice. Large carriers (AT&T) will start making it more attractive for you to purchase this kind of service b/c they can also bundle services such as cable, Internet access, and phone).

  20. Richard Says:

    Futurephone is offering free international
    phone calls

  21. Joan Says:

Donn’t use http://www.bountyzoo.com this company , you cann’t get money back by using this company.
the company is a liar. I use this website to make purchases , I cann’t get cash back for 10 of 12 purchases.

    Be aware!!

  22. Carolee Says:

I can second JOAN’s comments on Bountyzoo.com. They do not honor their cash back promises. This site is a scam. They will never give the cash back and won’t respond to inquiries. Bountyzoo provides no means of contact other than “trouble tickets” which they claim to answer within 48hours. I have been waiting 3 months for an answer. I even contacted the co-founder, Neil Durrant via email, he, of course, does not respond. They owe me about $100!

I have read several complaints against this company in different blogs/rip off reporting sites, and all are the same…no rewards and no response! Also, I have written to everewards.com which provides links to cash back sites. A representative stated that they have received various complaints againt the company in the past few month or so and are seriously considering removing them from their website.

Futhermore, this company is headquartered in the U.K., so good luck to U.S. users getting any satisfaction from this company.

If you are looking for a deal, AVOID Bountyzoo.com, it is too good to be true. I am going back to EBATES.com. I have never had a problem with this cash back site.

    Hope this helps someone!
