Does this work for preexisting Sharebuilder customers as long as they open a new account?

I dont think it work atleast from the terms “Limit one ShareBuilder account bonus per unique customer “

I received a similar offer (with a different promotion code) last week, and when I called and asked, the Sharebuilder rep said it was just for ING Direct customers who had not yet joined Sharebuilder. It looks like they may have decided to expand the offer outside of ING customers with this new promotion code.
In any case, my girlfriend and I are $150 richer this week, as the bonus money has already hit our accounts.

@Jeremy
Yes. I just opened a new (custodial) acct for my son and I recv’ed an email saying the promotion is good. I have had a ShareBuilder acct since ~2003.
So, yes. It works for existing customers.

I would be careful with opening multiple accounts with the exact same registration information (like an individual) though, opening an additional account as a joint or as custodial accounts for kids would probably work. But as long as you only transfer $100 over, there shouldn’t be too much downside. Their FDIC sweep pays 0.5% APY.

I’ve opened 3 Sharebuilder accounts with ING to take advantage of similar promotions and always got the bonus. Not saying that it will work this time, but in the past it has.

I once had about 5 Sharebuilder individual accounts, but the last one I opened in my own name was frozen (no bonus). I was able to open a joint account, though.

Do they do a credit check? Don’t want a ding on my credit report if I can avoid it

it is very difficult to go to different sites everyday and pick the best deals out of them. thanks for doing this and making it simple for us

When I go to the link, it says a $50 bonus after depositing at least $50.
December 25th, 2011 at 4:57 pm
@John – No credit check per my experience and other feedback that I have read.
@nandhi – I try, thanks!
@Ian – Don’t click on the Shareholder link, that’s their standard $50 offer. Click the $75 bonus link to see the $75 offer.

Ah, because I clicked on the other link first, I get the same offer on both links. Trying another browser and clicking only on the $75 link, I see the offer.
If anyone else misclicks like I did, clearing your cookies will probably reset things.

If I open a joint account after opening an individual account, does it matter if I answer “Yes” for the question “Do you have another ShareBuilder account?” Will I still get the $75 bonus for the new joint account?
December 27th, 2011 at 5:22 am
@Tim
Yes. I did this and just recv’ed email saying I will be receiving the $75 in the next 4-6 wks.

From the fine print:
Limit one ShareBuilder account bonus per unique customer or custodial beneficiary.

i just signed up and made my deposit. do i have to initiate a trade to get the bonus?
December 30th, 2011 at 5:29 am
If I open an account today (Dec. 30) and initiate funding before the 31st will I still qualify for the bonus even though the funds won’t be available until Jan. 3rd?

Was told the bonus was expired a few days ago? Customer service rep seemed confused about it, said “it wouldn’t fund in time” (opened Dec 24th )but offered $50 usual promo instead. Not sure if they actually ended it or refused to honor for me for some reason.

Just opened a custodial account for my son using the code above and received an email stating that the code was valid. Additionally, looks like the promo has been extended as the email stated that I had until Feb 15th to transfer the money. It also mentioned that it takes 4 to 6 weeks to receive the bonus.
One thing to note. The code isn’t validated until after you go through the set up process. I didn’t like this and was a bit concerned, just wish they’d validate the code prior to the effort. Nevertheless, it worked.
