(Update: Sam’s Club has added that language that this offer is limited to “members in closing clubs”. I’m not sure if that includes if you live in the same area as a closing club.)

Sam’s Club is offering all of their members a free 3-month extension if you fill out the linked form by March 31, 2018. This is in response to their sudden closure of 63 Sam’s Club locations (about 10% of all stores).

Alternatively, you can cancel your membership and receive a full refund via electronic gift card within 7 days (I want to say you can use this at Wal-Mart, otherwise where would you spend it? Just pay the 5% surcharge?) or mailed check within 6 weeks. If you take the free extension, you can still decide to cancel with free refund later.

Comments

  1. The form isn’t working for me. It just repeats “There was an error processing your form. Please refresh the page and try again.”

  2. Patricia Caldwell says

After two tries filling out the form and getting the same error message, I tried calling membership services. After being on hold for 5 minutes, they hung up on me! I then went to live chat and after entering all my information again, I was told it was taken care of and a conformation email will be sent. Did not get it yet…

  3. Thought I’d point out the bottom of the form says:

“The offer for three month extension of membership and requests for refunds through this site apply only to members in closing clubs. Upon submitting your request you will receive a confirmation email that we are processing your request. If the home address we have on file for you is not associated with a closing club you will be notified with a second e-mail in 3-5 business days with further instruction”

  4. By the way, I just received this mail….

Thanks for being a valued Sam’s Club member.

Your free 3-month membership extension will be active within 3-5 business days.

  5. My store closed around august and my membership was there till November 2017? Am I still eligible?

  6. Just got my update from Sam’s Club. “This was only for people who were notified their home location was closing so you are not eligible”

  7. Tammi Marie says

    Got the email, not eligible

  8. My response from Sam’s after successfully completing the form: “We received your request for a 3-month extension of your Sam’s Club membership. This extension is only for members who received a notice about their club closure. As such, we are unable to process your request and apologize for the confusion.”

  9. I got the same: “We received your request for a 3-month extension of your Sam’s Club membership. This extension is only for members who received a notice about their club closure. As such, we are unable to process your request and apologize for the confusion.”, so don’t bother using the link in this article.
