Museum Day 2015: Free Admission Nationwide On Saturday 9/26

Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Ticket…for free! This is in following the spirit of Smithsonian Museums, which offer free admission every day.

Registration is now live. Offer is valid only on Saturday, September 26, 2015. One ticket good for two people at participating museums. One ticket per valid email address. You must pick the specific museum during the ticket request process, and then download a PDF to print out as your ticket. Simple process. (I’ve done this in multiples cities and have found the selection to include many local museums.)

There are some cool museums around us that now cost $25 for adults and $10 for children, so this can be a significant savings depending on the size of your family. (Two adults and two kids should register and print out two tickets. Kids can also get their own tickets.) After printing out the tickets, I always add it to my calendar and set a reminder as I’ve forgotten about it before.

On a related note, Bank of America runs a Museums on Us program which offers cardholders free admissions to 150 museums nationwide on the first full weekend of every month. Photo ID and any valid Bank of America® or Merrill Lynch® credit or debit card must be presented. Each cardholder gets one free general admission, so if you have a joint account be sure both people bring their debit cards.
