Millionaire Next Door / Get-Rich-Quick Seminar Update

Here’s an update from a reader who actually went to one of those Get-Rich-Quick seminars with Stanley Danko, The Millionaire Next Door co-author:

Hey I just went to this in Portland, OR. It is worse than you think.

There are 4 speakers selling something.

1st – Buying stocks $3000 Kit. Had a list of best 25 from 2001 (Whoops) I wrote them down, only one made money. Free info on many sites.

2nd – Asset Protection $4000. Hey just fill out these forms in 15 min. send in and you can never be sued again. Yea right. Program. Set up Family Limited Partnership(FLP), Set up Living Trust. Put assets in Living Trust. Put Living Trust in FLP. Make Living General partner, Now put FLP into Living Trust. Buy on many internet sites only $29.95

3rd – Tax Liens make 16 – 36% per year safely. Kit $3000. Buy on the net

No autograph book. Just a cheap paperback at the end. Did you add up total cost? OUCH!!!!

They didn’t even deliver on their promise of an autographed copy of the Millionaire Next Door by Danko. Dude.

  1. sheesh. what a boogle.

ah well, at least its just one of the author. if it was both ‘em rippin people off then thats kinda sad.

  2. The cynical person inside of me is not surprised in the least.

  3. You must admit, some of those commercials are quite enticing, even to those who figure beforehand it must be a scheme. At least this helps confirm it and I’m glad to have read it!

  4. Cap – The guy did it for money, and I can understand that… BUT, I think it hurts his overall image and would cost him money in the long-term. For example, I won’t ever buy another book by him.

Michael – you’re right – I have attended a similar seminar before in college. I was attracted by the “free dinner”. However, after 45 minutes of seeing people brainwashed before my eyes, I had to leave before I puked.

  5. Man, I did like the Book because it showed the statistics and mindset of how millionaires think. I never thought they’d be like Robert Kiyosaki that’s only out to sell their stuff. Well at least they didn’t lie in the Millionaire book or did they? Seems too statistical data to lie about unlike Rich Dad, Poor Dad.

People with Money and decency don’t sell anything in their seminars. I’ve been to Real Estate seminars (local real estate guru) that were free and financial seminars that charged $10 and given to charity(Rob Black)

  6. Get rich quick seminars haha,

more like they want to get rich quick not you!

About the Millionaire Seminar and asset protection….do you set up one Family Limited Partnership and one Living Trust? I follow the line of thinking until making the Living Trust the General Partner of the FLP. Then do you put the FLP into the same LT that you have established or another one. Thanks for the info. Interesting concept.
