HSBC Online Savings Account Now at 4.00% APY
Just got note that HSBC’s Online Savings Account is now at 4.0%, matching Emmigrant Direct. (thanks Allan) Too bad I can’t find any sign-up offers right now, I missed the last one for $35. Let’s hear it for some rate wars!

Only problem with HSBC compare emigrant is that they part on your money for 3 business days before you start earning interest on it. In Emigrant interest starts the next day ( same day the money is removed from the source account )

yeah I dont like that too.
so I’m picking Emigrant over HSBC.. although the extra rate helped at that time too.
HSBC uses Cashedge, damn ‘em!
HSBC is upgrading their site though, so perhaps they’ll use their own ACH setup. *shrug*
The great thing about ACH thru Cashedge is that you can link it to like almost every account out there.

I wish emigrant would make their external account link feature more versatile
Their current restriction of just two accounts and no easy way to change them is a bit annoying at times.

this always cracks me up…as a customer I am getting news faster from the internet than from the companies themselves. I opened an HSBC savings a couple weeks ago and they haven’t notified me of the new rate. I’m glad I snagged the $35 bonus, now maybe I’ll reconsider HSBC as my main emergency funds holder — I’ll check it out.

I’ve just opened this account and am quite happy. You can also link this account directly from an ING account and transfer your money directly. Maybe if enough people do this then ING might decide to be competitive again.

Reported on Boston Gal’s Open Wallet.
For anyone interested in opening a HSBC Online Savings Account. They are currently offering a $25 opening bonus.

Hi,
I was just on the phone with HSBC (had to unlock my online account – messed up typing my cust. ID too many times) and he just offered up the information that the HSBC online savings has apparently been jacked up to 4.25. He said they just found out this morning.
