Free Investing Book – Serious Money by Richard Ferri

Richard Ferri, author of the book All About Asset Allocation that I just reviewed, is currently offering a free online version of another of his books, Serious Money, on his portfolio management website. Haven’t read it yet myself, but will soon. Thanks to commenter Chris for sharing.

Serious Money explains why stockbrokers, investment firms, financial consultants and the mass media do not always have your best interests at heart. In this hard hitting book, author Richard Ferri takes the investment industry to task for spending too much effort on selling and too little on meeting the needs of serious investors.

Thanks for the link to the free book!

One thing I found interesting when clicking around Rick Ferri’s firm’s website is the selection of accounts: Schwab, Fidelity, TD Waterhouse, and TIAA-CREF.

    No Vanguard?

Vanguard dominates his fund recommendations in “All About Index Funds”, just as with other authors who are proponents of passive investing. He’s also a regular (and very helpful) contributor to the Vanguard Diehard forums. Just seems weird that his clients appear to be navigated elsewhere on his firm’s website.

  2. MoneyGuy Says:

They dont have it in PDF format so you always need to be connected to internet. ah I will just get this book from library if I wanted to read it

  3. Jonathan Says:

Are you sure you’re clicking on the right link? It’s definitely in PDF format, and I have it all downloaded on my computer right now :)

  4. Anonymous Says:

the book is in pdf format. you have to download chapters, instead of the whole ebook.

  5. Jonathan Says:

Dan – that is weird. I also find it hard to believe he wouldn’t offer such funds to his clients.

  6. John Says:

If you use Firefox, the “DownloadThemAll” extension is very handy for easily downloading the whole book without clicking “save target as” for every chapter.

  7. pago Says:

it would be appreciated if you can email me chapters on the benefit of diversification and why you can’t trust the financial advisors (chapter 8). i am referring to Rick Ferri’s book on Serious Money.

better still if you can email chapters 1 to 8.

    thanks for your help

  8. Jonathan Says:

Fixed link, the book is still available for free online.

  9. Limoman Says:

One thing that raised a Red Flag?
    Advocating only a .25% Fee
    But I believe it’s .25% OR $2,000 whichever is Greater,correct?

    Thus a $100k account pays $2,000 or 2% ,right?
