Here’s a free 2-year subscription to Bloomberg BusinessWeek magazine. Not a trial, no credit card required. My suspicion is that magazines allow these free deals to boost their circulation numbers, which in turn increases the amount they can charge for advertising.

I’ve been a regular reader of this magazine since getting it for free in 2010, and I think their new format is a good mix of short articles and a few in-depth features. You can also read it on your iPad/iPhone with a subscription, although most of the articles are free online. It is a weekly, so if you don’t read it as it arrives the issues do stack up and will waste a lot of paper.

  1. Shame on you for secretly promoting some type of product review program where the subscription is a REWARD not something to boost subscriptions numbers.

  2. Thank you for sharing! I signed up. If I’m behind I just throw the old issues away.

  3. @DaveN – Umm… sorry I don’t understand your comment. You don’t have to even sign up for their program to get the subscription. I certainly didn’t. How can I secretly promote something that I don’t know anything about and I get nothing if you sign up with them?

  4. This looks like a contact info harvesting scam to me. First page you enter your info and seems like that is all that is required to get the “reward,” then next page says you must sign in to enroll, and you need to refer 4 more friends… which nets you 1250 “points.” Then you find out the BW subscription requires 5000 points and you just submitted all your info for nothing (although I’m sure junkmail and email spam will be increasing). Disappointing.

  5. I just tried it again. You just have to fill out the first page and click submit. That’s it.

I have gotten free subs from these guys. This may get you more junk mail, I can’t tell, but I figure that you’re just giving out name and address which the USPS sells anyway. Use spam email always for these types of things.

  6. Jonathan,

    How did you do it?
When I click on this link I get a page that asks for my info and to received “free” subscription I need to select 5,000 points offer. I don’t have any points with these guys, so how am I going to get that free subscription?

    Thanks.

  7. Need to wait for 2 months to see if this really worked.

  8. I’ve done these magazine deals before, and they usually work. Got a number of mag subscriptions for free this way.

  9. I am getting the same thing as the other guys they must have changed their landing page

  10. The first issue arrived. The expiration date printed on the label is October 2015. I didn’t have to refer any friends or accumulate 5,000 points. Legit deal with no problems. Thanks again!

  11. Just got my first issue. I guess it is legit, although the sign up procedure is not very straight-forward (eg: no screen that says “done” after you fill in your info… instead you go to another page requesting more names and contact info of your friends, etc). I guess filling in that first page and hitting submit was indeed all that was needed. Cheers.

  12. I told ya 😉 But seriously, glad it worked for the people who got in on time. Just read the long Amazon article about Bezos, it was interesting but I don’t think I’d like to work there.

  13. Got mine too, thanks!

  14. Thanks, it worked for me too!

  15. yeah, be careful….I called them several times to be sure it was free and I was assured it was then today I found a charge on my credit card to “GA School Fundraising” and it was tracked back to Bloomberg!!! How they even got my credit card info is beyond me….how about that for a sneaky billing technique!!! I will report them to the BBB and local authorities.
