Free SmartMoney Magazine Subscription

Rewardsgold is offering a free 2-year subscription to SmartMoney magazine for a limited time. You have to fill out a brief one-page survey as well as “tell” two friends about the offer. Your friends don’t actually have to sign up for the offer or actually do anything at all. No credit card required. Arrives in 8-10 weeks.

These free subscription promos are usually done to boost subscriber counts for the magazines so they can sell more ads, and most times actually do arrive in my experience.

  1. Thanks Jon. I got MONEY mag through something like this a few years ago. SmartMoney is kinda a mindless read as far as PF goes, but there are always a few nuggets to take away! Thanks for the heads up.

  2. I actually find most of them to be mindless these days. I used to read SmartMoney, but then they started pushing the Stimulus in 2009 and trying to sell it as a fix for the economy instead of nearly a trillion in additional debt.

Although, I have to say that the Stimulus bill did stimulate the stock market, but free money tends to do that.

I still have a subscription to Kiplinger’s but I won’t be renewing that either.. the latest issue is all about the “strong” and “robust economy.” I swear these clowns never get out of their bubbles…

  3. why bother wasting paper and trees?

  4. It may not be a scam, but I went through the first 2 items, and when I got to the final item, the watch survey. I got:

Firefox can’t find the server at http://www.rewardsgold.com.

I hope it’s not a scam and I eventually get my magazine, but I don’t feel real good about it right now.

  5. I seriously doubt it’s a scam, I’ve gotten multiple magazine subscriptions from Rewardsgold. They don’t even ask for a credit card number or anything sensitive, just name and address (your name doesn’t even need to be real!).

  6. All you are doing is giving out your address to these publishing houses who will, in turn, sell it to direct marketing agencies and before-you-know you will be hit with a pile of junk mail.

Good luck! Nothing in life is ever free!!!!

  7. …as opposed to what happens when you actually pay for a subscription? The post office sells your address all day long.

  8. FYI I just read that they are killing the print edition of Smart Money”

  9. @Dave – Thanks for sharing. Stupid online sites about personal finance! 😉

  10. @Dave and @Jon

Didn’t catch the announcement earlier but I just opened the mail today and apparently got the last print edition of SmartMoney.

They attached a card to the issue explaining they’re going all digital now. They’re offering to continue the subscription either through WSJ Weekend (the Saturday edition of WSJ and SmartMoney’s parent company) or Barron’s (the Dow Jones weekly magazine).

I’ve heard of both but don’t really care one way or the other. I think I might choose to go with WSJ Weekend though since the scope seems to be wider than Baron’s.
