First published in 2008, The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss is a book about “lifestyle design” and included many uncommon ideas about working and retirement. He describes how you can build a business and delegate/outsource nearly everything about it. He’s ruthless (in a good way), from hiring virtual assistants from India to teaching you to avoid answering 99% of your incoming e-mails. Once you do that, then ideally you’ll find yourself working mere hours a week. Who doesn’t like the sound of that? 😉

Although not exactly a how-to manual if you’re currently in a 9-5 job, it was definitely one of those inspiring reads that made you think. That was based on my reading of the original, but the 2009 “expanded and updated” edition supposedly has over 100 pages of new content. Perhaps time for another go.

If this interests you, you can currently download a digital PDF version for free. Supposedly to promote his new book The 4-Hour-Body (of which I know nothing about), he’s now offering free digital versions of The 4-Hour Workweek and The Slow-Carb Cookbook, a companion book to the 4-Hour Body. I’m still not sure if this is fully intentional, but Ferriss is both tech-savvy and a crafty marketer so I can only assume it is. Instructions via SD:

  1. Worked perfectly. Thank you.

  2. I used to read this guy’s blog, but his general smugness eventually made me put an end to that. Still, I will take a look at his book for the low low price of free!

He’s got a lot of good ideas and he gleans info from successful CEO’s, I didn’t use all his info, but I am using what applies to me and I think that’s what he intended. It’s your dream and your choice. I found WordPress and stopped there, they have all the free tools I need and I love to write, it’s people’s choice whether they want to read me or not. In the meantime, I can install ads and hope they click through. One guy in his book put his music online for pay per song, and it’s working for him, with little or no outlay.
He gives info that I had paid a bunch of money to learn before but was led astray, like Storesonline- their dropshippers all charge $50 a month to become an affiliate. But ultimately you don’t even have to dropship or bother with them at all.

  3. Free is the right price for me… I put in a bogus name and e-mail as well… Not keen on handing out my e-mail address to unfamiliar (to me) sites. This blog is a happy exception 🙂

  4. I was skeptical about him writing a fitness book, but it’s actually pretty interesting and has gotten a ton of five star reviews on Amazon.

  5. Thanks for the heads up. I’ve wanted to read the 4 hour workweek. 😉

  6. Here’s a great post about “The 4 hour body”, a new book by the same person. Eye opening to say the least.

Seems like the fellow’s a fraud.

  7. Anyone who writes about lifestyle design in one book and fitness/nutrition in another is most likely not really an expert in either. I can’t comment on his ‘workweek’ book, but his fitness/nutritional book is based on hand-picked scientific studies, if based on science at all. Many times, points are proven using purely anecdotal evidence. Sorry if this is off-topic, but if you are looking for real nutritional and fitness advice, there are plenty of well-respected blogs out there that are based on actual evidence and real-world results.

Based on his nutritional advice, $0 probably sounds about right for what I’d pay to read this book.

  8. well today is 25 dec and it did not work thought it was available till tomorrow can anyone send me a copy

  9. I tried to download it on Christmas day as well with no luck. I was able to get it off bittorrent very easily.
