(Update: Looks like this deal is over.)

I know that there are some Economist readers out there, and it’s a pretty expensive subscription. Right now the site NEAmag.com/2011FREE is offering a one-year subscription for free (51 issues) with no credit card required. You’ve got nothing to lose by trying, and there are several other magazines including Kiplinger’s Personal Finance available as well.

  1. wow – the Economist for free?

this seemed almost too good to be true – so we’ll see, but I went ahead and signed up for it and Harper’s…

  2. Thanks for posting this! I signed up for the Economist and Kiplinger’s. I’ve been wanting more ways to educate myself about finance, and I think this will be a great start!

  3. I signed up for the Economist and renewed my Fight! Magazine. That subscription was gonna end in Jan too, so perfect timing!

    Another great offer. Thanks Jonathan!!

  4. Didn’t work for me. It keeps redirecting me to buy another subscription and I can’t check out. Oh well.

  5. Thanks a bunch!

  6. Thank you for the link!

  7. Shaina – I had the same issue when browsing with Firefox. It seemed to work in Internet Explorer.

  8. It bounced me to the paid subscription page on 3 different browsers, my HP tables, Chrome, and IE. IE was a little slower though, so I clicked on the checkout button before the page fully loaded and bounced me out again. That allowed me to checkout.

  9. Didn’t work for me either. Tried Chrome and IE. Funny thing is that when I clicked for the first time, it took to me to the page with options to choose magazines, but once I selected the items it took me to the home page. Every time after that when I clicked the link above, it kept linking me to the home page…probably they stopped the promotion :S…

  10. Having similar issue like others in all browsers. It just redirecting to some main page.

  11. I couldn’t get the free stuff to show up either. Tried Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. Kept sending me to a regular subscription page. Bummer.

  12. It is Buy now, Pay later. I don’t see any text saying it’s free. They will send you a bill later.

  13. I’m unable to get it to work in either browser. Any tips?

  14. looks like it was a hook for a few people. seems to me that numbered freebies are over. No more free magazines..

  15. Didn’t work for me either, Economist is $99 on site… Any suggestions?

  16. It’s not working for me either. Perhaps they’re not offering it anymore.

  17. doesn’t work for me either 🙁

  18. Does not work for me either.

  19. Or me…looks like they shut this one down.

  20. No deal here… Tried Firefox & Safari on Mac.

  21. i did it last at 11PM last night when i came across it and it was working. but i guess they took it down. saw it pop up on some deal sites so usually that’s the beginning of the end of these kind of deals.

  22. I just called customer service, the promo was only for members of some education club. Not for everyone.

  23. I signed up on the day of your post and it seemed to work, but yesterday I got an email stating that the offer was only good for NEA members and asking for my membership number (which I don’t have). Bummer, I was pretty excited. Oh well.

  24. Same boat as Austex above, got an email today from NEA that a membership number is needed. Guess am not getting a FREE sub to Kiplinger’s. (stink-a-roni)

    Cheers,
    Missy

  25. Yup, me 3. Signed up the day of and order went thru, but now I get an email saying nope, I won’t be getting any free mags.
