Back again, but different? I’m not sure if this works if you’ve already done it before, but there is a new Chirpify promotional page with a new #RewardsPoints hashtag (instead of #MRpoints) showing the following opportunities:

  • 750 free points. 250 points each for linking your Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts.
  • 250 free points. 125 points each for following Marriott Rewards on Twitter and Instagram.
  • ???. There is a vague reference to additional points earning opportunities. “A maximum of 45,000 points per Marriott Rewards account can be earned each calendar year through #RewardsPoints.”

Here’s a link to the FAQ. I don’t know why all these things ask for the ability to post on your behalf, but then promise “we won’t post on your behalf”. So why ask for it? Just as with secondary e-mail accounts, some people choose to keep secondary social media accounts…

  1. Linking your Marriott account to one of your Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter profiles would only get you 50 points. why is the promotion says 500 each?

    • Linking your accounts is different than “following” Marriott. Linking let’s them see more of your personal information and in some cases even post on your behalf. It is often recommended that you have “dummy” social account for this purpose. Of course, you may never use the accounts anyways and so linking your main account doesn’t do anything.

  2. Looks like this offer is still available (again?), although not as lucrative as before.

  3. D. Foster says

I only got 25 points each for linking these accounts. (Verified by email) Also, the points are not yet reflected on my Marriott account. Do they post automatically or do you have to wait a few days or more for them to post to your acct.?

  4. Note that “earning” these points will NOT extend the time until your points expire. I jumped through the hoops, got my 250 points, and then learned that the upcoming expiration of ALL My points didn’t change. The CSR said nope, “bonus points” don’t count. Which sucks, and they should somehow make that more clear. Gotta use some points (1000 minimum via donating them) or purchase at $12.50 for 1000 points minimum.
