Costco New Membership Discount Certificate

Here’s a new link for a Costco Membership Activation Certificate where for $60 you can get the following ($115.63 total value):

  • 1-year Gold Star membership ($60 normally), which includes a membership card for the primary cardholder as well as one free Household Card
  • $20 Costco Cash card
  • $35.63 in free coupons – Free Paper Towels Create-a-Size 12/160 ct ($15.69 value), Free VitaRain Zero Flavored Water 24/20 oz bottles ($9.99 value), and Free Food Court Whole Pizza ($9.95 value)

Offer valid for new memberships only. To qualify as a new member, an existing Costco membership must be expired at least 18 months or more. Offer Expires 12/31/2017.

The website should be legit as it has handled the backend for similar offers from Groupon and LivingSocial. If you buy two certificates, you can use that to redeem for an Executive Membership. Executive members earn a 2% cash back reward on your Costco spending (up to $1,000 a year). If you spend $3,000 annually times 2%, that’s a breakeven $60 back.

Update: Some folks are reporting trouble with purchasing. Some suggest trying this link (without the www.) and double-clicking the purchase button. I would also consider contacting Costco about this sub-par customer experience.

  1. Anyone know if the “free household member” can sign up for this and count as a new member?

    • I’m not sure. I’ve read that they do cross check the free household member now, although they didn’t in the past.

If so, I imagine one alternative would be for couples who usually shop together to only use one name on their membership and then switch every 18 months. You could buy Costco gift cards to fill the gaps (no membership required). That seems like too much trouble for me since I shop there so much, but it might work for others.

    • I should add that others have been indeed able to make a “free household member” sign up for and count as a new member.

  2. LIttle concerned now…..Put info in twice,..but the purchase button does NOTHING?

  3. I had to double click after removing the “www”. Still told me I “was not” approved and then sent me a certificate anyway. I hope I don’t get charged twice since a tried more than once after receiving the not approved message.

  4. Thank you Jonathan! Worked for me. Took about 25 seconds for website to load up. dcgone printing company is probably using a cheap hosting service that’s getting overloaded sometimes.
