Costco and American Express are offering a couple of promotions good for extending your membership by 2 months for free for both existing and new members.
If you apply for the TrueEarnings® Card from Costco and American Express in-store, you’ll get the free two months. (But if you apply for it online, you’ll get a $25 statement credit, which for the $50 Gold membership is pretty much six months for free.) Card benefits include 3% cash back on gasoline at U.S. stand-alone gas stations, including Costco gas (up to $4,000 a year), 2% cash back at U.S. restaurants; 2% cash back on eligible travel purchases, and 1% cash back on other purchases. No annual fee. Terms and restrictions apply.
Alternatively, simply sign-up for auto-renewals with any AmEx card in the store:
Sign up for automatic renewal of your Costco membership on your existing American Express Card.
If you sign up for auto renewal on your existing American Express Card, we’ll extend your Costco membership for two months.* When it is time to renew each year, your Costco membership will be billed automatically to your American Express Card account, and the charge will conveniently appear on your statement. You’ll save time, and your Costco membership will stay current.
Taken from this nationwide Costco flyer. Expired 6/30/10.
Visit this Costco page and sign up for a new membership online with any American Express card, and get 2 months free. If you opt for the $100 Executive membership (is it worth it?), you’ll also get a $10 Costco gift card.
* New membership: two months free offer is valid only for new members for the first year of membership. Costco membership must be purchased on-line and paid in full with any American Express Card. To receive 2 months free, membership must be purchased by June 30, 2010.
