So here I was, paying my Cinglar Wireless bill online, when I notice this little box on their front page called ‘Extra Discounts’. Naturally, I was intrigued. I click on ‘Learn More’ and read:
Cingular has business agreements with thousands of corporations, government agencies and educational institutions to offer wireless products to their employees and families at a significant discount. To determine if you are affiliated with an organization that qualifies for additional savings, we need your work email address.
Ok, so I tried my alumni University e-mail. Guess what – 15% Discount!
To be more precise:
1) You enter your work or school e-mail.
2) They let you know if it qualifies and send you a link to that specific e-mail.
3) You click on that link and it brings to you a page with the discounts available. For me they include $25 Off Any Order Online Only, 15% Service Discount, 25% Accessory Discount, and a $50 Equipment Discount. Some of it only applies to new customers.
4) You click on ‘Register your service with your company’, answer a few quick validation questions, and then I got a page saying:
Congratulations – the certification process is complete!
To the extent you are eligible to receive a service discount, you should start receiving the discount within one (1) to two (2) billing cycles
I’m not University staff, but the wording seems to read that people are eligible as long as they are affiliated with the University. Work people should try their corporate e-mails as well. Definitely worth a try anyways, worst thing they can say is no.
15% off my Family Plan is $10 off a month or $120 a year in savings. Sweet!
