Great idea unless you've "locked in" with a 2 year commitment so that you prices don't go up. They have no incentive to do anything for you as a customer now...But at least my rates won't be rising along with everyone else's in January.

Don't forget to look at dsl. It is usually 19.99/month for a year (or less for two years), so you have more negotiating power with the cable company. They ask, 'how long is that offer good for', when you say it doesn't expire you get a better deal.

For Comcast, look on Craigslist for offers. There are often competing salesmen on there, and the deals can be quite good. In Atlanta, I'm paying $71/mo (incl taxes, fees; no install, or activation fees were charged) for 8 Mbps internet incl modem, and 'Digital Basic' cable (includes almost all general channels), including HDTV, and HBO movies. The deal is good for a year (no contract).

I previously used comcastoffers, and had no problem getting the rebate. I kept switching between Comcast and AT&T u-verse (they have a $250 rebate) every 4-6 months, but the deal above is better than anything AT&T is offering here.

Hmm... I've used Godaddy for over 10 years and it has always been a good domain registrar. The website is clunky but I can call and get a human within 30 seconds, and have gotten many great deals on domains.

ComcastOffers also filled my rebate with no issues, but I do acknowledge that some others have reported troubles. I avoid rebates in general, which is why it is referred to as a bargaining chip. Use the availability of such a deal to get your current provider to lower your price without having to go through the hassle of switching! :)

Why are you recommending sites like ComcasrOffers and GoDaddy, when they are very known for bad service and rip-off tactics ?

Hi all,

Just wanted to pass this along.

I have just internet access through Comcast and saw this post. Called them up, and of course, did not qualify for the 19 dollar promotion BUT I did qualify for a faster speed at 25 dollars for 6 months.

This will replace my 70 dollar bill for JUST internet...I imagine it will be around 40 dollars for the next 6 months.

180 dollars saved!

I decided not to go for Comcast Offers after reading the reviews online. Called Comcast directly, and have a month-to-month contract for high-speed-internet for $19.99/m, which comes to $20.23 after all other charges (since I have my own modem & wireless router).
