While digging through the garage to find our (three) Christmas decorations, boy did I find a lot of junk. I’m pretty sure that everyone reading this has a least one thing that they feel has some value and also don’t want. Old cell phones, DVDs, that-old-thing-you’ve-had-forever, whatever. Remember my 3 eBay selling tips:
1) Just list it. - The most common mistake I see people make is put off listing their items for sale, waiting for the perfect time or when they’re less busy. Unless you are listing antiques, your stuff is losing value by the second, especially electronics.
2) Take a picture. - Wouldn’t you rather see the actual thing you are buying? This is critical to getting the best price.
3. Make your description honest, clear, and concise. There is no need for fancy templates or a dissertation on your product. People just want to know what it is, and if there is anything wrong with it. I’ve seen so many auctions that have plain straightforward text with a good picture sell for much more than a gaudy listing that’s 3 screens long.
In other words, it really shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to list your item. Just snap a picture, and write up a paragraph about it.

Unwired Buyer is a service that allows you to bid on eBay auctions through your phone, and is currently giving out an easy free $20 via PayPal for new users that sign-up and complete a phone bid. I was pretty skeptical of the offer at first, but I just got paid about three days after my initial bid. Easy twenty bucks.

My cell phone is on the fritz and I’ve been trying to snag a cheap one on eBay
, but I keep getting outbid. I finally remembered bid sniping software, which I used to use all the time. I logged into my old AuctionSniper.com account, and to my delight I still had some free snipes left! They give you 3 free snipes when you sign up, and another 3 every time you refer someone to the service.
What is bid sniping?
Bid sniping is simply waiting until the last minute of an auction to place a bid. The idea is to get the your bid in, without giving other bidders the chance to re-bid and raise the auction price. The easiest way to do this is with automatic bidding software like AuctionSniper.

Ok, a day late per my weekly to-do list, not too bad. Now, I know there are a billion eBay tips out there, but here are the ones I always tell my friends when they ask me about eBay. (In a previous life, I was a eBay Powerseller.)
1) Don’t dawdle. Just list it. - The most common mistake I see people make is put off listing their items for sale, whether locally or on eBay. I’m guilty of this myself. Unless you are listing antiques, your stuff is losing value by the second, especially electronics like laptops and other gadgetry. I’m selling an old laptop this week that I haven’t used in over a year, and it’s probably lost over $300+ in value already. Set yourself a deadline, and just list it, even if you don’t get the perfect listing time, description, or picture.

I’m still in the midst of listing everything I need to sell on eBay… man it’s a lot of stuff I’ve been hoarding. I’ve decided to share my eBay selling template - it’s nothing spectacular, just something I whipped up in Microsoft Excel to help organize and automate selling a large number of items.
