TradeKing: $50 Bonus For New Accounts
Online broker TradeKing has brought back their $50 sign-up bonus for new accounts, no referral required. You must open with $2,500 and make one trade within 30 days.
4) To qualify for this offer, new accounts must be opened and funded with $2,500 or more. Account funding must occur within 30 days of account opening, and one trade must be executed within 180 days of account opening, for account to qualify. Offer is not transferable or valid in conjunction with any other offer. Open to US residents only. One offer per household. TradeKing can modify or discontinue this offer at anytime without notice. The minimum funds of $2,500 must remain in the account (minus any trading losses) for a minimum of 6 months or the credit may be surrendered. Other restriction may apply.

Do you think you can combine the $50 bonus with the reimbursement for transferring from another account. Would like to switch from OptionsXpress which has $14.95 trades. And would the $2500 transferred count as the $2500 funding for $50 bonus?

I couldn’t find the $50 promotion for new accounts on TradeKing’s Website. All I saw was $150 for switching and $50 for Refer a Friend Program. Can you please post a link to this promotion?

Just my opinion, but TradeKing has been just awful to me. Transfers take way too long, and they game that process to earn interest for themselves that you’ll never see. Plus, they refuse to participate with account aggregators for our monitoring (e.g., Yodlee), have draconian ACH requirements, etc.
I much prefer Scottrade because of the instantaneous ACH transfers (in terms of instant availability of funds for trading), and low cost ($7 per trade).

Paul - Scottrade is good too, but although depositing is fast they don’t even support ACH withdrawals at all in-house. You can get around this however:

I talked to Marissa on Live Chat and she said:
Marissa: Yes you can be eligible for both
Will: What do I have to do to be eligible for both?
Marissa: You have to meet the requirements for both. If you fund your non-IRA account within the first 30 days of account opening via account transfer for $2500+, we will reimburse your account transfer fees up to $150.
Marissa: Promotions require that you open your account via the promotional banner or link you saw the promotion being offered.
Marissa: You then need to fund the account with a minimum $2500 within 30 days of opening the account and place at least one trade within 180 days to receive the promotion bonus
Will: Do you know when the $50 new account promotion will end?
Marissa: It expires Friday

I will add that I was just notified by TradeKing that this $50 new account promotion will be extended to November 30th, 2009.
