This was a great deal last time, much better than renewing like usual. Coupons for nuts, which we always buy, coupons for water, and two free chickens! We didn’t use the rest, but that’s better than nothing.

Doh, I just upgraded to an executive membership in store YESTERDAY…
It was only $20 (Pro-rated). Still not sure if it is a good deal to upgrade or not.
August 4th, 2009 at 6:55 am
What other coupons does it come with?
August 4th, 2009 at 7:26 am
So if my membership is about to expire in October, I can use this to renew and get the Free stuff?
August 4th, 2009 at 8:53 am
Executive membership pays 2% cash back. $2500 in annual spending makes it break-even. (But there are other perks as well)
August 4th, 2009 at 9:01 am
do these expire? Can I buy two and use the two certificates to renew my executive membership when it is up for renewal in 6 months?
August 4th, 2009 at 10:27 am
I’m new to Costco - do they require annual membership renewal, or do you just pay it once for life? Please let me know…..thanks for the tip, Jonathan!

@Rick
Annual

The certificates do not expire, however the current set of coupons probably do expire sometime in the next 3-6 months so try and use them first.
The coupons may be different this time, but when I bought mine last time there was $ off Kirkland case of bottled water, nuts, pizza, and meat.

Also wondering about the expiration. On the web site, it says the offer expires on 12/31/2009. I’m guessing that is the expiration for the “offer” — i.e. ordering the certificate and coupon booklet from this web site.
Assuming that is correct, two questions remain:
1. What is the expiration date, if any, for the membership certificate?
2. What is/are the expiration date(s) on the coupons in the booklet?

Never mind… thanks, Jonathan.
I’m trying to decide if this is something worth considering, as there is supposedly going to be a Costco opening near me in Manhattan “by the end of the year.” I think I may hold off unless I can get a firm confirmation of when the store is opening.

This is a great offer. I bought one for my mom, but the funny thing is when she brought it in to Costco to redeem it for her annual renewal, the clerk had no idea what it is about. She had to talk to multiple people before they finally gave her the renewal using the coupon… anyone have the same experience?
August 4th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
Confirmed that the membership certificates themselves do not expire.
These current set of coupons expire Dec 31st, 2009.
August 4th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
The coupons are great. Free coffee, $3 off mixed nuts, cookies, meat. Free chicken. $3 off salad, pizza. $3 off water (which at my Costco, made it only $.59!).

Does this certificates are valid for executive membership renewal (for current executive members)? Thanks.

I’m currently a BJ’s Wholesale Club member. Is there any advantage to switching over to Costco? Is there any way to try out Costco without blowing money on the full membership?
August 4th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
I did this offer back in July . The person at the c/s desk did not know what to do with those certificates. They had to call over a manager and then they were like we need to see a receipt for your purchase . Which I did not bring. I told them to read the fine print on the bottom and they were like ok - that works .
I used two to renew to exec.
Note - if using other Costco coupons - have them scan these ones after they have scanned all the other ones or you will not get the $ off. The mailers they only have scan 1 of the pack and it will look at what you bought,

Can anyone confirm that these certificates can be used for renewal of an existing Executive membership. The certificate clearly says for new membership or for an upgrade. I don’t want to spend $100 to find out that I can’t use it because I am already an Executive member.
August 5th, 2009 at 7:38 am
Yes, they work for executive and you’ll get two sets of certificates and coupons.

Hi,
How do I get an add-on card by using this certificate?
What paper work will I have to do to activate the certificate? How long after the activation will I have my membership card?
August 15th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
Sounds great but I only have a gold membership which is to expire next month… If I buy the $50 certificate, will I be able to use that to renew my gold membership? Thanks so much!

Just got back from taking my 2 $50 certificates purchased from Kardmerchant to Costco to redeem my executive membership. I ordered these online and received them within 3 days. Much faster than I expected. Filled out the information on certificate and took them to costco. The register girl did not know what the certificates were but got her manager and processed the membership with no problem. Since I bot two $50 certificates I got two coupons books.
The current coupons are:
-Free 2 lb bag of Kirkland Coffee (my costco only had whole bean coffee so I gave this coupon to an old man with a grinder)$9.99 value
-$3 off fresh bakery cookies
-$3 off albacore tuna 8 pack
-Free Rotisserie Chicken $4.69 value…got this today and its yummy
-$3 off case of spring water.. a case was $3.50
$3 off fresh baked 18″ pizza …pizza was 9.99
Free 100 photos digital printing
$3 off fresh meat
$2 off salad mix
Free 48 pack “AA” batteries 9.99 value
$5 off premium floral bouquet
$3 off white meat canned chicken breast
Expiration date: Feb 1, 2010
The sales clerk at check out told me they didnt take coupons at costco but I made her scan them and she was suprised that they worked. On the coupons it states they can only be used for new costco members on date of joining and only one coupon per customer so i will be interesed to see if the second set of coupons will work next time.
As far as executive membership goes there is no risk because if you do not spend 2500 in a year getting the 50 cost back they give you the difference at the end of the year.

Should I receive a confirmation email after submitting the form?
September 28th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
So, if I am renewing an executive membership should I purchase 2 - $50 certs indicated by gold or the 2nd option listed on the order form which is executive $100 - either way get me executive membership with 2 coupon books? THx
September 29th, 2009 at 5:47 am
I called Costco yesterday and they said they were legit. I even emailed them the link to the Kardmerchant site.
So hopefully I’ll get these sent this week. I hope they are valid. I confirmed with Costco that my membership expires the end of September (tomorrow) and that I can use two of these to renew my membership.
Quick question, will I get two sets of coupons as I purchased the $100 Executive Renewal?
Noj - I received a confirmation email with an order number.
Thanks

Just a follow up. Went and renewed on Friday. No problem. The membership person had to to go through a long process to key it in but took my info and said I was good to go, so I did not need to watch him input it.
I used a few coupons that night. No problem. Like previously mentioned, the checkout person kinda looked at the coupons as if she had not seen them below. But they worked like advertised.
The coupons basically pay for the membership. Great stuff.
Thanks for making me aware of it!!!!!

I am in the Houston, TX area. Member certificate worked with no questions asked. The checker did look at the coupons a little funny but no problems. Much better than the $10 off offer I received via mail at one point after my previous membership had expired. Our household should be able to use most of the coupons and they are good until early next year. Thanks!

What a great deal this is! I ordered online Monday, which was a holiday, and received my paperwork on Thursday…What fantastic customer service! I went to Costco today and it took just a few minutes to activate my application and get my card. I also received a book of other coupons that are good for about 2 weeks.
I made my selections and when I checked out I handed the coupons to the checker. He looked at them and commented “oh, some new ones” and I mentioned I got them from my online purchase of a memberhsip. No problems whatsoever in using them..
If you are planning on getting Costco membership, this is defintely the way to go…Thanks for such a nice experience.
