Free FICO Credit Score From Equifax (No Trial)
Equifax is currently running a campaign that is giving out your FICO credit score for free (expired) based on your Equifax credit report. There is no credit card or free trial subscription required, so you don’t have to cancel anything. Only available to the first 10,000 responders, so go try it now! If you’ve used Equifax before, you should just sign in because they will make you sign in again anyways once getting your information.
The free score comes with some general information about your credit history (see mine below), but to get more specific information you’ll have to purchase your credit report and analysis.

I see my score of 754 is only better than 62% of US consumers. Given that I am making interest off of 0% APR credit card debt, I am pretty happy with the results.

Wow, I beat you, Jonathan, but I suspect it’s only because I paid off all of my 0% BT offers. I’m 806 now, Transunion had me at 750 a few months ago when I still had the balance transfers.
Thanks for the post!

Much Thanks for pointing me to this!
October 1st, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Thanks!
October 1st, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Thanks for the link!! I’m at 778 and the only reason it’s not higher is because I have a “short credit history”. Still plenty of time to mess things up apparently.
I’m guessing that people who are interested in their finances and read blogs like this are likely to have good credit. I’d be surprised if many of your readers had a “not good” score or lower…

Thanks

Thanks Jonathan! I got a score for both my wife and I.
October 1st, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Sweet thanks!

Thanks a lot!

Very cool. They said that the people with highest credit score usually have their oldest account at 19 years, and average age of 7 years. 19 years? I was like 7 years old. Hmph.
Thanks!
October 1st, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Just checked my score. Thanks.
Wonder if it will lower your credit score after you check. thanks very much anyway.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:05 pm
awesome! but now it looks like everyone is trying to get their free score, because when I log in, it says my account information is unavailable at this time…..
October 1st, 2008 at 3:07 pm
Dan - Good to know I have room to improve
Russ - I don’t know, but it also might be good to check for errors in the report, if you see a score out of the ordinary.
SP - I know, I’m happy I finally have a “good” length of credit history.
Luu - Not to worry, checking your own credit info never hurts your credit score!
October 1st, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Jon - Try using Internet Explorer or another web browser. I was having the same problem with Firefox earlier.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:27 pm
thanks for the freebie!!
my score ain’t too bad on my high credit card utilization!
I have a question, it says the report will no longer be available to view at the end of the month, but will the credit score update between now and then?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:39 pm
Mine came out to be 791. It said “Not Good” for recent credit applied as I have opened couple of new credit cards. It probably did not affect the credit score much though. Checked my wife’s too. She ended up being a few points higher than me.
Thanks for the link.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Thanks!
My wife and I both got our scores.
October 1st, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Great find, thank you!
October 1st, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Thanks for this. I’m letting others know about it as well. My score is 788 which seems mighty high but I will take it.
October 1st, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Wow, I thought I was rockin’ a “great” score with 772, but your other readers have me beat! Too much new credit apparently.
Thanks for the link!
October 1st, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Thanks for this info. Being just 3.5 years in US, i am able to build decent credit score.. mine is 747
October 1st, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Thanks!
October 1st, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Jonathan, kudos for the tip. I got mine at 810 with history 9y and 8m. This was the “Good”. The others were “Great”. I’m using 4% of balance.
I’m planning to get a good CashBack card this month so it’ll be interesting to see how many points it drops.
October 1st, 2008 at 6:00 pm
Good to know I’m back up to 783 after being 100+ points lower only a couple of years ago. It lists me as good for history and good for recent credit, although I haven’t gotten a new card in almost a year. Oh well - it’s fun to know these things. Thanks.

Thank you so much for posting this website. This was my very first look at my credit score. Great to know this information when going in for a loan!
October 1st, 2008 at 7:17 pm
How do you actually get the score? I just get an order confirmation page…
October 1st, 2008 at 7:19 pm
If you end up at the confirmation page, log back into Equifax.com Member Center. It stores your old scores and reports.
October 1st, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Thanku Jon for this info… I am planning to buy my first house, this info helped me to know where I stand and how much will be my mortgage intreset. My credit score is 731 and for 30yr fixed it shows 5.99%.. Any pointers to get good(less interest) mortgage loans..?
October 1st, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Just my luck. I got a message saying they could not verify my identity online and to call a number. (is everyone getting this?) So I call the number and rep claims they’re updating the system so they can’t verify it over the phone either. I was told to call again tomorrow morning after 9AM?!?
October 1st, 2008 at 10:54 pm
So this is the actual FICO score that you can get from myfico.com or just Equifax credit score? I got 771.
October 2nd, 2008 at 2:58 am
Thanks for the tip! My score is 795!! seems like everyone is sharing…hehe
I had a question though.
One of the few reasons for my great credit score is that I have a long history of 30.5 years. Now I am no math whiz, but I am 24 so I dunno. The only thing I think of is that My mom and I are named on a loan for school. Now she’s had credit forevers and her score across the 3 bureau’s is 826. Is she the reason that they believe I’ve had credit for that long? Also, as a favor to her, I’m about to pay off the remainder of the loan. I have more than enough to just finish the loan and little expenses. Once the loan is paid off, will that have an effect on my score?
October 2nd, 2008 at 3:02 am
Thanks for posting this offer. I am pleased with my score!
October 2nd, 2008 at 3:16 am
Thanks got a score for my wife and I…
I think I’m in a situation similar to Zach… As a 26 year old I have 32.67 years or credit (!) leading me as an unemployed part-time grad student to have better credit than my wife who’s a physician… The real difference is that her parents are the buy a car with cash type while mine use credit a lot. In some ways though it seems like this type of thing is part of the problem with the economy at this point…
October 2nd, 2008 at 3:52 am
I’m a little confused here, I thought Credit Karma was supposed to be fairly accurate - today credit karma has me at 756, but this equifax only has me at 693. anyone have any insight?
October 2nd, 2008 at 4:23 am
813
am i the winner?
my wife is 809.

[…] Free FICO Credit Score From Equifax (No Trial) […]
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:18 am
Thanks for this — I have been wondering where we stood. We are both at 813.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:02 am
Equifax uses the real FICO score, not a proprietary score like other bureaus.
Doing the 0% credit card deals like this site suggests will ding your score some. How much just depends.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:34 am
768 - with some 0% BTs outstanding.
As far as length of credit, we both had over 800 scores once we hit about 10 years of history. It seemed to be the magic number. (The numbers do fluctuate a lot).
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:35 am
Wow, nice. Thanks.
There is some wide disparity between the different credit companies. That may be because I just bought a house? Equifax shows the lowest, but the other two have a much higher rating. I don’t really know what the difference is between the three companies, but it can vary as much as 100 points between the different companies.
Similar to tjs198, I also have a 750-760 at the other two, but only a 695 at Equifax.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:51 am
I was able to order fine, but when I log in to view my score it says :
“We’re sorry, our system is unavailable at this time. Please come back later.”
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:53 am
805!! First time I have seen my score since I bought my car over five years ago. It was 750 something then.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:16 am
I hadn’t checked my husbands FICO in a long time. I came back to say he got 808, since he has no 0% BTs right now (paid his back a few months ago).
We’ve actually divided the 0% BTs so neither of our scores were hit too hard.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:39 am
Thanks…just did this. 5 min later I gave the link to a friend and it is now saying Product Unavailable…looks like i was one of the last ones to get it for free.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:05 am
719 for me, but that includes maxing out my capital one (love those purchase checks) and AT&T UCS (0% no fee BT). I will pay both of those off before I shop around for a new refinancing rate on my wife’s mortgage. Any idea how long it takes before paying off a revolving credit line and seeing the FICO score bounce back? Thanks for the link, Jonathan

My credit score is 731 and I have 3,300 in credit card debt how much will it go up in a year if I pay it off by January? Should I not use my credit card again till after I buy my first house. Or should I use my credit card and just pay the balance off every month. What is the lowest mortgage rate possible and what credit score do I need to get it. Im 27 and I never really worked before I was in an accident so I get structured settlements that I live off of not much yearly about 28,000 plus more lumpsum payments paid every few years increasing over time but guaranteeed and Tax free. I have established credit buy buying a new car 27,000 or so years back and paying it off after a few years also just buying things and paying them off. I would keep a revolving debt of about 5,000 yearly then pay if off with my lump sums. I have about 8 credit cards with debt on one 1,500 or so 7.something percentage rate and around 1,800 0% apr for a year wooooooooooo thats a mouthful will any of this help or hurt me any answers you guys seem to know your stuff thanks
