Free 2007 TurboTax Online Federal and State From State Farm
State Farm is again offering TurboTax Online for for free to their customers. It’s a pretty good deal, including both Federal and State software with eFile. You must be registered on StateFarm.com and have “at least one product (Bank, Insurance and/or Mutual Funds) displaying on [your] My Account page”. To check, just log into your account and look for this link:

Click on the “FREE tax filing” link and you’ll get a popup with a special link to TurboTax (always go through this link in the future as well). Here is a screenshot of the free pricing page.
If you’re not a State Farm customer, you can still get Federal + eFile for free at TaxAct, with State filing being an extra $13.95. No rebates required!

Great tip. Does anyone know if you can get the discount with an existing TurboTax login? I’d like to carry over my information from last year.

This is great info. I have been a State Farm customer for a few years, but never knew they had this offer. Thanks!

I took advantage of TaxAct’s free federal + efile deal and had no complaints. Worked like a charm.

And if you’re not a State Farm customer, you can get 25% off through Fidelity - even if you don’t have a Fidelity account - http://personal.fidelity.com/p.....refpr=tax4

Is free tax filing available with a State Farm credit card, or just a bank account?

AV: I assume that any state farm account will suffice- my renter’s insurance got me the freebie.

I don’t know about a credit card, but I only have auto insurance from them and also have this free tax filing stuff.

My cheapness sense started tingling once your feed came in. This is right up ol’ Bob’s alley!
Thanks for the reminder. HR Block gets none of my precious pennies this year!

Mike - Yes, you can use previous info. When you sign up through that link, it asks if you have an old login.

I used Turbo Tax last year (2nd highest level as I have rental properties) and I must say I don’t trust their software at all. This year I’ll try to find an accountant (I had one but he literally went nuts and ‘fired’ all his clients to become an actor). Turbotax software is far too limited and leaves too many holes. Honestly, for anyone with complex tax situations no software can hope to approximate the value of a good accountant.

Talking about freebies, you can McAfee AV if you have account at Scottrade.

why Scottrade? State Farm offers it too. You can see it on Jonathan’s pic.

It’s not really free if I have to “purchase” one of their products.

I’m a long time TaxAct user but when I was made aware of this offer I decided to give it a try. Signed into my State Farm account and used the link provided. After seeing the free Deluxe offer I wasn’t sure I wanted to try online filing, found a link to Downloads and gave it a try. I was able to download the full Deluxe software package (including state). So far both TaxAct and TurboTax programs have provided the identical calculations and both are very user friendly. I was even able to import my TaxAct data from last year into TurboTax. And hasn’t cost a penny. Give it a try.

I was given a 20% discount for going through my company and using TurboTax. I usually just buy the software at a store, but I wanted to save a few dollars. Signed up online, thought they would send me the software or that I could download the program online, but instead it was all an online program. I find out at the end (after I file a return) that I can only file one return, and that I have
to pay for the entire package again to file another return, where if I would have bought if from a store, I could have used the software to file multiple returns. Yes, you still have to pay a fee for filing, but at least you don’t have to pay for TurboTax twice. Is a bunch of BS and I will never use TurboTax again. This was a total misleading shady way of conducting business and I am filing a complaint to the BBB. You don’t expect or feel good when you feel your own
company is involved with such a shady way of dealing with their customers & employees.
TurboTax and their affiliates demonstrate a misleading shady way of conducting
business when using TurboTax online and filing more than one tax return, then
you have to pay for software twice!

Honestly, turbotax is full of it. For one it’s $25.95 to file state and an additional $29.95 to e-file with direct deposit. Keep in mind this is (Turbotax “FREE” edition). I only had one w2 to file and the software completely botched my return up. My advice is do your taxes manually if it’s simple like my situation or waste your return paying off the consultant who files it for you.
