Brokerage Promotions: $100 Bonuses at Tradeking and OptionsXpress

TradeKing is offering a $100 bonus (expired) for new households opening an account with at least $2,500, and making one trade. You must keep $1,000 in the account for the first 6 months. I could not find a related TradeKing promotional code for this offer, but it appears to be valid. Check out my TradeKing review for some of my experiences and account tips.

OptionsXpress is also offering a $100 bonus (expired) if you open an account and fund with at least $500 by 3/31/08. They will also cover any transfer fees up to $100 if you move your entire account (of at least $2,000 value) to them. They have some cheap options contract prices if you are a very active trader. For equity trades, their commissions start at $10 which isn’t too special. $100 might convince me to check them out, though. :)

Just called to OptionXpress about opening account. I’m hesitant about giving out my social security number, furthermore, your SSN and other pertinent are stored in their database. Look at Bank of America, E-trade, Chase Bank, etc., they ALL claimed their system are secured and they all got hacked. If Bank of America or Chase bank got hacked, what makes OptionXpress special? Identity theft is more important than $100 bonus.

From Trade King - “Offer rewards are forfeit and will be returned to TradeKing if client withdraws (via ACH, check request, ACAT, or wire transfer) funds that result in a balance below minimum funding requirement($2,500) within 180 days of payment of Offer reward. ”

It’s not 1000$ but 2500$ which should remain in the account for 6 months.

Signed up for a TradeKing accnt through the link you provided in Jan. Asked by e-mail several times for the $100 bonus to be applied to my account, and ignored. Just used LiveChat, and was told that the promotion was not valid, as it was in fact only targeted toward “specific customers.” Mind you, the webpage itself made no mention of that little fact. TradeKing’s looking into what they might be able to do for me.

I think you should take this offer down off your site because it’s nowhere on the Tradeking site and it’s probably not valid.

  5. Jonathan Says:

Yes, this is expired. You can get $50 at Tradeking until the end of October 2008, though.
