Signup Bonuses: $25/$75 from E-Trade, $200 For Chase Bank
$25 bonus for opening E-Trade savings account with just $1, no minimums and no fees. I still dislike E-Trade from my own bad customer service experiences, but I don’t mind people grabbing some bonuses from them.
Thanks S.E. for the tip. There is also a $75 bonus for opening a checking account, but there are more hoops to jump through like high minimum balances. No hard credit pull when I did this.
$200 sign-up bonus for a Chase Business Checking account. They may require business license for business accounts, depending on state. There are high minimum balance requirements to waive monthly fees, but you could just pay them for a month or two and still make some money. You need to print it a coupon and physically go to a branch, though, and Chase has a somewhat limited coverage area. Thanks to J.D. for the tip.

Does anyone know if E-Trade does a hard credit pull for their online savings accounts? Thanks!

John - on that $75 bonus for the E-Trade account it looks like you need a min. $5000 balance to avoid a $15/month maintainence fee.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Tried the Chase Bank deal. When I got to the page asking for my zip code, that’s when it respond with :
The Chase product, service, or offer you selected is not available in the Zip Code you entered. Please check the Zip Code to be sure it was entered correctly. If you would like to enter a different Zip Code, please try again.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
I tried several zip codes here in Los Angeles - nothing came up. When I tried to find a branch, I got “No ATM locations were found within a 30 mile radius.”
Thus, i’m unable to partake in this deal

Does anyone know how much the monthly fees are for the Chase business account if you do not maintain the minimum balance?
August 22nd, 2007 at 6:36 pm
For Chase, it depends on the type of Checking account you get. I think it starts at $11 per month.
No Chase in West Coast that I can find… CA, OR, or WA

Does anybody know how much Chase will charge me when I try to close that account in couple months?
August 22nd, 2007 at 7:51 pm
There’s ways around the $5000 daily balance.
A $100 minimum deposit is required to open a new account. Account holders must maintain a minimum average monthly balance of $5,000 to avoid a $15 monthly fee. This fee will be waived if the account holder 1) sets up a direct deposit of $200 or more per month, 2) maintains at least $50,000 in combined E*TRADE Bank deposits, or 3) maintains a combined balance of $50,000 or more in linked E*TRADE Securities, E*TRADE Bank accounts, and employee stock plan accounts (including vested in-the-money options, stock option plan shares, ESPP shares, and released restricted stock), or executes at least 30 stock or options trades during a calendar quarter.

Looks like the ETrade Bonuses are easier to get than the Chase one, but both of these are very good tips. Thanks for the heads up on these two!

I have scanned coupons with the code to receive $25 dollars for opening a new chase free checking account and also a Flyer with $100 bonus for opening a new chase free checking account. You can get $125 free for opening the account in a branch only with both coupons. I have done it already and the bonus will come withing 2 weeks after your initial direct deposit which can be a simple as a transfer from paypal as I did. Email me if you would like me to send you the 2 coupons, but only if you are actually going to use them.

To anyone who has signed up for the E-trade account, has your initial deposit posted yet? I signed up on August 22 and my $1 deposit hasn’t posted. They took it out of the funding account but haven’t put it in my E-trade account.

Hi,
Could anyone help me find where Etrade bank’s $ 25 offer’s URL?
I opened a complete saving on Aug. 2. When I did not see my $ 25 bonus posted after Sep. 4, I called. The CS does not know about this bonus offer. He put me on hold to check it out. Then returned and said that offer only applied to account opened prior to July 15th. I told him that the offer was in effect when I signed up and still is till the end of the year. But he thinks that I should provide him with some kind of proof of this offer.
Please help. If anyone knows the offer’s URL.

Since the interest rates are dropping I’m considering moving from Emigrant Direct to E-Trade for direct savings. Does anyone have an in-depth review of E-Trade direct savings account?
Thanks,

I hadn’t received it either until I sent them an online customer service message. Make sure you send them the link from this post to remind them of the promotion.

The Chase deal is a bait and switch hoax. When I went to open the account. They told me i only qualified for Access Checking another “free account” but I could not redeem the $200 Coupon they sent.
I checked their website for account in my zip…no such account exists.
I am reporting to the State Banking Commission.

JPMorganChase has gotten too big, five years from now the US would will the sector was not as consolidated much like the US auto industry right with only 3 major players. The same thing is happening in the banking industry, Chase, Bank of America, Citi, and Wells Fargo, Capital One, National City are going to be the only major players, consumers are going to suffer from lack of innovation and absurd fees.

I went to my branch and the manager actually accused me of fraud.
He told me he wasnt aware of that offer and that even if it did exist it was only for new customers.
I have banked with them for over 6 years WAMU and have several business and a platinum checking account. I am reporting them to the States Attorneys office. My husband did the same offer a week before and had no problem.
