Free Bonus Money Updates
This was a good week for receiving some free bonus money, with $285 in total! Some updates too:
» $60 from Unwired Buyer via their $20 Bonus program. I’ve received $20 PayPal x 3 now, two for both of my eBay accounts* and one for my wife’s. For those that haven’t had a chance to bid yet, I’ve updated the post with a link for tons of good auctions to bid on. It’s Friday, get it over with!
» $100 from Bank of America for a (now expired) opening bonus (previous post). I’ve had to fight for BofA bonuses before, but this one came on time without hassle. There is a new $100 bonus available here.
» $125 for a new-customer deal from Comcast cable internet (previous post). I’ve received a $75 rebate check and a $49.95 modem rebate check. Still one $30 rebate to go. The current deal looks like it’s $25 sweeter now, with a $100 rebate + $79.95 modem rebate (modem costs $79.95 + shipping). I guess this isn’t all free money, but I’m also getting internet at $19.95 for six months as well, so it’s still nice. I’m always relieved when rebates come through.
Hmm.. should I blow some of this windfall on a special $99 dinner for two at Morton’s Steakhouse?
* Yes, I have two eBay accounts, and no it’s not illegal. As long as you aren’t doing anything shady, eBay is fine with it. One reason why users have two IDs is to make one personal and one business. Or also one for only buying and one for only selling. Finally, the Unwired Buyer terms state clearly “The $20 Signup Bonus is limited to one (1) per valid eBay account.” Not per person, or per address. So I’m all good!

Sadly, Bank of America allows only citizens and people with green cards to open accounts online. If you’re a foreign worker, or a student… too bad.

So nobody is pro-Mortons? Bummer. Oh well, they’re probably booked for tonight anyways.

I must say Bank of America is getting so difficult to deal with. I received a promotion in which I would receive $25 for opening a savings account by June 9, 2006. I opened this account on June 6th. On the other side of this promotion, I noticed the fine print saying that this offer expires May 13, 2006. Needless to say, I did not receive the $25 within the 45 day time frame indicated in the rest of the fine print. I called B of A customer service and they gave me their empty apology and stated that I would receive the $25 within 4 to 6 weeks. So, I’m wondering, Jonathan, is this kinda what you mean by fighting for B of A bonuses?

That’s exactly what I mean, ron. They tend to “lose” the promotion code. I got the same 4-6 weeks junk, and still didn’t get the bonus. I finally had to go to a branch and they manually credited me right then and there. Of course I have a good relationship with my local branch, and I am often in there depositing checks and such.
That said, my last two bonuses have credited on time.

Hi Jonathan,
Did you need to provide 3 different phone numbers for each of your accounts?
Also did you refer yourself? So in effect getting another 2x$5 in referral bonuses?
Also once you get the credit to your e-mail address do you add the e-mail to a single paypal account or did you have to open another paypal account for each?

Jonathan -
Love the site! I opened accounts for myself and my wife with that link and we still have not received our $100. I opened them on June 6. When did you open yours?

great update, jonathan!
some of the small print on the BofA offer causes concern; such as…
2 The $5.95 monthly maintenance fee for MyAccess Checking? will be waived only in states where no Bank of America Banking Centers reside. Other fees may apply.
and..
4 Transfer fees may apply for use of this optional Online Banking feature. There is no fee for transferring funds into your Bank of America checking account. If you transfer money to accounts you own at other financial institutions, a transfer fee of $3.00 for three-business-day turnaround, or $10.00 for next-day turnaround will apply.
i am going to apply for an account regardless, particularly because there are no minimum balance or direct deposit requirements that i can see, but thought i would still point out the above.

Applied for my Bank of America checking account via your link on July 31. The $100 bonus was deposited into my account on August 19th. Less than 3 weeks! I’m impressed! Thank you Jonathan!
