Free Equifax Credit Alerts via PayPal

Equifax and PayPal have teamed up to provide a basic credit monitoring service that is free to anyone. I say it’s free to anyone because after you click on the sign-up link, there is no verification that you actually use PayPal when signing up. In fact, I already had an Equifax login from my free government-mandated credit reports, so I just used that and it grabbed all my info automatically. Two types of alerts are included:

  • Upon an Equifax credit inquiry, or a

  • Balance change over a chosen percentage or dollar amount.

I signed up a few days ago, and got my first balance alert today. It doesn’t tell you which credit card triggered the alert, which is a bummer. Still, not bad for free and now I’ll know when my Equifax credit is pulled.

CollegeStudent - Please check out the Book Reviews category on the right.

Anon - That’s weird, because I don’t think this is a product that they charge for. Be sure to click the link above to the PayPal info site and then ‘Sign-up with Equifax’.

I try to stay away from paypal.

That’s just it, this thing has nothing to do with PayPal. I think it was just given out to help assuage PayPal user’s fear of identity theft, but is provided by Equifax

  7. Mark Says:

I got an “inquiry” alert, and then the email said to log into Equifax, and when I did, I saw where it came from.

  8. Jason Says:

I signed up for this service and all I get are false alerts. Anyone else have this problem?
