Emigrant Direct Bonus Paid Out / ING up to 4.25% APY
Everyone who sent me their Form #2 in April for my Emigrant Direct Referral Bonus should have been paid. If not, please e-mail me. If you’re interested in Emigrant Direct’s 4.65% APY, why not get up to $20?
If you’ve still got money in ING Direct, they raised their rate to 4.25% APY.

You wrote “If you’ve still got money in ING Direct”… I still have money there, am I missing something other than the slightly higher interest rate at Emigrant?

No, there’s nothing wrong with ING Direct at all. But it’s pretty clear that they have decided not to compete on an interest rate level. If you think that the customer service and convenience is worth staying, then go for it. It’s still much better than most places.
0.40-.75% of lagging amounts to $40-75 for every $10,000 you have in cash. I have about $50,000, so that’s up to $375 difference every year. Worth switching for me. On the other hand if you are talking about $500, then that’s another story.

Thanks, Jonathan. Has Emigrant Direct’s interest rate consistenly been ahead on ING’s, as far as you know?

Great blog. I am in the process of opening an Emigrant Direct account. I have initialized this process and am currently awaiting a letter in the mail for my username and password. They have not transferred the inital deposit from my checking account. Can I get any sort of referral bonus, or is it too late? Can you email me this answer? Thanks!

Can I sign up for another Emigrant account if I already have one, or is it limited to one savings account?
