Get $75 For Meeting With Ameriprise Financial

Ameriprise Financial Consultants are offering incentives for going to their sales pitch again. Choose from a $75 Gift Cheque, 5,000 Membership Rewards points, or 3,000 Delta Skymiles (10k more if you sign up).

I’ve done one of these, so be sure to read up on my initial perceptions, some interim research results, and my post-consultation thoughts before you go (don’t skip the comments). That reminds me, I haven’t gotten my gift card yet, although it’s not quite 12 weeks.

question about the 0% apr game.

how do u get the balance transfer? What if you have no balance to transfer to the card? Are you essentially taking a cash advance?

    can you clarify?

matt - Thanks for your comment. Please read *all* the posts listed in the following link. There is a lot of information there, but I’ve worked hard to make it digestable.

If you still have questions, I’d be happy to answer them. Posting the comment in the appropriate post will help keep things organized, though. Thanks!

Believe me, $75 is not enough to compensate for meeting with these guys. When I asked for a reference the guy wouldn’t give me one, saying that it was obvious that he would only give me good references.

I agree it is not worth the $75 to go and listen to someone who has only their own interests in mind. There is a reason they call them brokers because most of the time that is all you get. Besides after you meet with them they will not leave you alone and that personally drives me crazy. There is a lot of better ways to make $75 then meeting with someone you have no intention of giving your business to. If you want to learn more about investing do it through the Motley Fool it is free for most info.

I would agree, if you just want the money don’t do it. For me it was a learning experience though, and I do not regret going. I learned a lot about the industry and how these guys earn their money.

Of course, if you are easily coerced I’d stay away altogether, some of these guys might be really good salesmen and leave you greater than $75 poorer.

Actually, this was quite easy if you make it clear that you are there for the bonus. Or just tell them that you have negative net worth, and they won’t want to waste your time. After much following up, I still only got a $50 giftcard though.

I have met the Ameriprise consultant 6 weeks before, but havent got the check. There is no customer service number..

I think, the promotion is just to promote public to meet the consultants…I am not sure anyone got the reward check yet….

I went last night to dinner with 6 friends paid for by AmeriPrise. We ordered our food, he gave his sales pitch why we should at least have him look over our finances, then we had to each fill out the form with our contact info and what we were interested in, then the guy paid the bill including tip and left the restaurant. He bought us each an entree and non-alcoholic drink. I chose the restaurant as long as it is less than $25/head. So this meeting was $150 free but they got 6 new contacts. I received the obligatory phone call today but saw it on CallerID and let the voicemail answer.
