Success! Got TiVo discount subscrption for only $6.95 per month.
I called up TiVo and told them that I was trying to save money and was thinking about switching to Comcast DVR, which was cheaper. After some more discussion about how I really liked TiVo but just felt it was too expensive, they offer me a reduced rate on my TiVO subscription, for $6.95 per month, down from $12.95 per month. Forever! (Or until they get bought out I suppose.) That’s a simple savings of $6 per month, or $72/year for simple phone call. Sweet.
Good stuff huh? I don’t know if it will work with everyone, I have been a loyal subscriber at full price for years. But it’s worth a try! I figured I’d share this to my readers, but let’s keep it on the down-low, eh?

Congrats on getting the discounted price. It’s definitely a significant saving over the course of a year.
The only problem with too many people doing this is that it reduces the overall profitability of a great company that is already struggling as it is. But hey, this is a personal finance blog..not a stock market blog

Thanks, the funny thing is that I did own TiVo stock for a bit. But that was mostly due to my love of the software/hardware, but in reality I think that TiVo is going to have a hard time in the long run without being bought by a large media company. We’ll see how their patents hold up for now…
